Sleep Token are a masked, anonymous collective of musicians; united by their worship of an ancient deity crudely dubbed "Sleep", since no modern tongue can properly express it's name.
This being once held great power, bestowing ancient civilisations with the gift of dreams, and the curse of nightmares.
Even today, though faded from prominence, 'Sleep' yet lurks in the subconscious minds of man, woman, and child alike. Fragments of beauty, horror, anguish, pain, happiness, joy, anger, disgust, and fear coalesce to create expansive, emotionally textured music that simultaneously embodies the darkest, and the brightest abstract thoughts. He has seen them. He has felt them. He is everywhere.
Sleep Token, led by the perpetually tormented, supremely talented Vessel, creates music that brings to the fore our most submerged thoughts and feelings, coaxing them from the desolate, terrifying caves of our subconscious mind.
Can we talk about how creepy Vessel’s original mask is though?
The mask he has now gives off a vibe of “I look frightening but I really just want a hug”
This mask says “I will leave pieces of your corpse in the McDonald’s play place ball pit”

Does anyone else notice him offering the apple. I know this song is much older but when you think about take me back to Eden, wanting to go back to his innocence. An apple can represent the apple of Eden showing him giving sleep his innocence. I’m sure this has already been more than figured out given some other songs, but that for some reason just hit me with this song. I also know that the apple in different forms of beliefs also represent love, beauty, happiness and wisdom. Which he could also be offering to sleep, in hopes to get it in return. I hadn’t watched this video yet so stumbling upon it and getting to make a connection on my own which like I said I’m sure had been made already, is kinda cool to me😂
This is exactly what I thought, too. I'm fairly new to the world of ST (about a month and a half into them), TMBTE being the first ever song I ever listened to and watched. I had just learned that their albums were a trilogy/story, and the songs connect, and I didn't actually realize the apple in the She-Reaper's hand until a few weeks ago, and when I saw this video for the first time weeks ago, I just sat there with my mouth opened, pointing at the screen like "the apple!". 🤣
This almost feels like Vessels incarnation, like the ritual being performed to summon the deity known as "Sleep".
That's exactly what it is, no doubt!

Found them when the summoning came out. I wish I found them earlier. Seeing him become vessel is so hauntingly beautiful. His devotion to sleep is unlike anything I've ever seen. We will all worship sleep.
It's actually not something to be proud of happy about. Sleep is healthy, but detrimental when you rely on it to enter a facade of escape.

I legit fall asleep to their music due to their melodic nature. It’s so beautiful and soothing to me (even the heavier songs have their own comfort to me at this point). And I love that about them.

Fun fact, if you cut an apple horizontally, it reveals a 5 point star that represents earth, air, fire, water, and eather! I believe this means that sleep token will release 5 albums representing this. They have already released 3 albums based off the elements.
People have been speculating Sleep Token will “change their style” based on their new look. Maybe that might be somewhat true if they transition into the theme of “fire” for their next album and end it all with an album cantered around “void/eather” tying back into the dark atmosphere of One. Maybe?
Also I will add Vessel takes inspiration from Japanese culture and the five elements mentioned are a part of that cultures mythology. But I am sure you might have already known that.

With Euclid ending TMBTE with the call back to the night does not belong to god. I saw it as an end of a trilogy.
Ive been obsessed with these guys for the past year. I don't think I've gone a single day without devouring their discography. I find something new each time. I am so incredibly thankful for them. I struggle with disassociatian and not feeling my emotions but i feel something every time i hear this music. Im seeing them in 5 days and I'm actually giddy. Cant wait to worship in person. So thankful for the chance 🖤🖤🖤

@theworldhasmovedon it was amazing!! I've been to alot of concerts and it was the best I'd been to. The only downside was the wait to maintain a spot bc the crowd was massive. Hoping they come back for next louder than life.

I found them after the summoning this week and have been digging through their music. Everytime u think I figured these guys out they surprise you then next thing you know theyre doing and OutKast cover to Hey Ya..these dudes r truly art and love for music with no need to prove anything to anyone

Unfortunately I don't find the slow singing parts interesting or moving at all. It just doesn't do it for me. If they could even capture just a fraction of the raw emotional power of something like My Immortal that would be cool, but I'm just not feeling it, even Tori Amos goes harder than this.

My interpretation after hearing about the worship of sleep, is that vessel is accepting sleep within him in this song. doing so at night. theyre a very cryptic band and im fascinated in finding hidden meanings in all the lyrics. a normal listener might think that their songs are about a normal relationship,and i believe some are. but they actually seem to go much deeper if you read into everything. check out jericho if you havent. its a great example
@@groundhog3051 I speculate that songs that appear to be more geared towards a real relationship versus ones that appear to go deeper are actually one and the same phenomenon just on different levels of experience. A “normal relationship” is still a construct of one’s mind. Story, drama, memories, all can be forgotten with a simple stroke and suddenly an entire history of a relationship ceases to exist. It’s all just us trying to live with ourselves at the end of it all. Just my thoughts on it though.

I always wanted more out of music, I wanted to feel everything at once. I wanted it all but never knew how to put it into words. The yearning has ended for I have found my beacon, a place to be blissfully manipulated, to feel what I never knew I needed to feel.

That's the perfect description of what happened when I found their music. The emotions I can't feel in real life all are brought to the surface when I listen to their music. It's a spiritual experience. I never understood hype and cult like following. I'm all in.

How so? It adds majorly to their stage presence and the overall psyche to their music. That interview with Vessel was very cringey yeah but masked performers usually are the ones who can draw people in just for the curiosity alone.
It seriously warms me to know so many new people are discovering and exploring the lore, the language, the light, and darkness of Sleep Token. So proud of these guys and so happy so many are listening not just to the new but older content.! Glad I've been around this whole time for this wild ride!

Extraordinary
The apple of Eden was always my first interpretation. I have seen others interpret things in other ways to. For me, it’s the theme of opening the gates to the ”original sin”, dooming “Adam and Eve” (Sleep and Vessel) to a fate they can never return from, cursed to be in constant strife with one another for perceived eternity (time is dilated), and compromising the world to inevitable judgment and destruction (Apocalypse, thematically fitting for the instrumental ending of When The Bough Breaks foreshadows). This fits so well when the heavy guitars hit while the hand grabs the apple, symbolising the event when the forbidden fruit is first acquired. It sets the tone for Sleep Token so perfectly going forward and ties into the themes of Take Me Back To Eden.
Also tying the themes of “forbidden fruit” with the subject of forbidden intimacy, falling in love, fabricating a romanticised idea of another person in your mind, then to become a slave to said “person”, god this gets deep.

I’ve been a fan of sleep token since 2016, I remember hearing this song for the first time OMFG I about burst into tears because of how beautiful Vessel’s voice is. Love you boys :)

This is the first song I've heard from them back in 2017 and it still gives me goosebumps. Their material in 'One' and 'Two' is just outstanding.
Sleep Token continues to fascinate me. Always. Coming here and seeing this first film, I just get lost in the body expression, the atmosphere, the sheer *sound.* I hope to worship the rest of my days and remember this Vessel origin story.
I never knew I could feel so relaxed at work until this song came on while I was up on a pole and couldn't switch to the more energy charged songs sleep token has to offer. Thank you Vessel and SleepToken for helping me fee zin in stressful situations.
Jericho was the song that got me hooked on the band in 2017, this was the second song I heard by them that same year this band has always stuck with me through so much of my life especially now more than ever

Life changing band
That's certainly one way of putting it....! I've only recently discovered them but for about 3 or 4 months now, I haven't really listened to anyone else... The odd song here and there but nothing hits anywhere near as hard. I've had this with other bands before but never for this long. I'm nearly 40 - it's been well over a decade since I've discovered a new band to me that has had even half as much of an impact as Sleep Token.
This is amazing, keep up the great work!

I like many was exposed to ST this past year. Honestly, my kid was playing their music. But for me I have to be in the mood, or it hit me just right. After catching the summoning break down on tt. I played it for my kid and she was like, “Yeah I’ve been playing their songs for you for a couple months.” From that evening on I’ve been hooked to the point I learned all these older songs. My kid just finally started listening to these older songs a few weeks ago after telling her how good and underrated they are for months now. Still love that my kid and I can bond over music. So hoping we can get tickets for their Teeth Of God Tour this week. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
