Wow....a beautiful rendition of the song. The 2 dulcimer parts makes it a much fuller sound. thanks for sharing your talent with us.
This song alone is why I picked dulcimer to be the instument my bard uses in dnd
Rights of manning
This is the way to play is instrument. Love it. Thank you.
Well, it's the way I like to play it, for sure (and how Bobby did as well)! Thank you Patricia! :-)
That sounds beautiful
Thanks for playing this at hornpipe speed!
I love this, I keep coming back to it. Intensely lyrical and poignant. Jessica, Bobby and Mark are peerless.
We had wonderful times playing together, and I’m glad our performance has brought you joy. :-) Thank you...
So effortless and wonderful
So beautiful
Oh, thank you for saying such a lovely thing! :-) I'm happy to be able to share music with you this way!
This sounds like something that would play in a scene of a movie where the protaonist is hyping up the ragtag, poorly assembled army to go and fight against a horde of abominations
So very lovely, I just want to sit and listen. Thank you!
You’re most welcome! Thank you for listening…
Lovely version
Enjoyable to listen to
Excellent
very nice
Hauntingly beautiful!
Fantastic playing!!!!
Thank you, Walter!
Beautiful!🙏❤️
Just beautiful ! ❤️
Thank you! 😊
...What a spirit is spread out by your playing! So mellow and sweet! Thank you so much for offering us such a gift!
Thank you! I appreciate your listening!
So beautiful!
Beautiful. I would give my right arm to be able to play so well, but I suppose that would defeat the purpose. Thank you so much for the videos.
Haha! You are most welcome, Mike. Perhaps your right arm will listen to you if you demonstrate to it over and over again what you would like it to do for you! ;-) Thank you!
breathtaking
❤❤❤❤❤
Just starting to learn how to play the dulcimer, this is the song I 'd like to be able to perform one day. Congratulations, it's great!!
Thank you so much, Jacqu, and congratulations to you on discovering the mountain dulcimer! My arrangement of “Rights of Man” is included in my book and video set “Mountain Dulcimer Wildflowers”: www.jessicacomeaudulcimer.com/products.html
I got my dulcimer last week. How are you coming along? This song is an old favorite of mine!
Beautiful playing, love the mellow sound of the dulcimers and so enjoy the speed at which you are playing! Have struggled so often in sessions trying to keep up on fiddle with this being played at breakneck speed!
Thank you, Lynne! I am glad that you have been enjoying our version of "Rights of Man." :-) Right now, I am working on a tablature collection that will include my arrangement of "Rights of Man." If you are interested in receiving updates on its progress, you can follow me on the Pensacola Mountain Dulcimer Wildflowers page on Facebook: facebook.com/wildflowersjessicacomeau
Thanks Jessica, I'll certainly do that!
Really wonderful !
Hi Jessica,
This is the song in your book I'm currently learning, it's great. I'm more than halfway through learning the 22 songs. Each one is super, though my favorite right now is Edi Beo Thu Hevene Quene. I hope you'll publish another set of songs for the dulcimer with lots of old world songs.
I am glad you are enjoying my arrangements, Ferdinand! Perhaps I will share another set of songs one of these days... Please let me know if any questions arise as you work through the songs and materials! :-)
Seems I hear someone's bird cheerily tweeting along toward the end of the song at about 2:45 sec. Very sweet.
That was a beautiful little clock we had at the time with different birdsongs for each hour!
I am trying to learn to play this currently from your book and it is very helpful to see and hear how you do it.
Wonderful, Omar! Please let me know if you have any questions as you work through the material. :-)
That is properly haunting, what a genuinely beautiful performance
Beautiful!! You guys inspire me to keep learning
👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
Fun tune to play along with my Martin.
Ha! A remote jam session... How fun! Thank you for listening!
I loved the mockingbird that joined in at 2:46 I hope to be able to play this one day
That was a beautiful little clock we had at the time with different birdsongs for each hour!
🤫 I'm listening...🎶💜🕯
This was lovely! Very well done!!!
Wow, this reminds me a lot of Ensiferum, awesome job, I love it!
+Lautaro Lino Yes, I think I can hear that! ;-) It must be the minor modalities... Thank you so much!
Well done! Well paced!
Love this .....
Thank you, Steve! :-)
Love listening to this!!
monica kovac Thank you, Monica! The dulcimer really does loves Celtic music, and this hornpipe is especially fun to play! :-)
That sounds great!
Thank you so much! :-)
I am learning to play this instrument. This video is beautiful, and terrifying. She is so good, light years ahead.
Such playing is meant to inspire, not terrify, Anthony! :-) But thank you! Just take one day at a time, and enjoy the journey. Did you find my "How to Play the Mountain Dulcimer" videos on my channel yet? They might be able to communicate a few secrets to you regarding technique. :-)
I know, just looking at the mountain I've got to climb. It is inspiring, I love music. I'm currently learning to play the mandolin, tin whistle, and dulcimer. I will check out the instructional videos you mentioned, thank you.
Anthony Reilly
Anthony, sure the journey is long, but like any journey, it begins with the first step. As wonderful as Jessica’s music is, I’m sure her fingers felt as tangled as yours when she started out. That’s why she puts so much work into sharing her experience with us!
Music isn’t a contest. It’s a message and a way of life. No musician is as proficient as they know they can be. The journey is about try to be and sharing.
WHOA!! =) I'm learning this one!!
Yes, I think "Rights of Man" is a good song for the dulcimer, and it has a very revolutionary spirit about it! :-) I hope you have fun figuring this one out!
Love from Pensacola!
+Zachary Brooks Thank you for stopping by to listen! :-)
+Jessica Comeau It was nice to meet you today and to find out you are just as nice in person as you are online. Your rendition of, "Black is the color" lead me down the rabbit hole that helped me rediscover the Appalachian folk music my grandparents listened to. P.S. I hope I hid most of my, "crazed fan girl" excitement and that we run into each other again.
+Zachary Brooks Yes, it was serendipitous for our paths to cross as they did! I know that your explorations of Appalachian folk music will be rewarding. :-) It is a great time here at the beginning of a new year to learn about the mountain dulcimer! ;-) Happy New Year!
Well done everyone.
Dave
lovely dulcimer playing! I subscribed.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your listening. :-)

Hi Jessica. I became enthralled with the dulcimer by watching and listening to the late, great Richard Farina play it--amazing technique! Are you familiar with his work? He was married to Joan Baez's sister, Mimi (now also deceased). Richard died tragically in a motorcycle accident after releasing only 2 albums with Mimi. Keep up the good work! I'll check out some of your other videos. best, Skip Way
I love listening to you playing this song. Where can I get the TAB for it the way you are playing in C-G-C?
I just rediscovered your message, Bernd! I know you’ve found your answer by now, but thank you so much! :-)
So melancholic and soulful is this tune, made all the more beautiful through your inspired talent. Please, what tuning is it done in? (Do you have a CD, maybe even with this arrangement of two dulcimers?)
Thank you, Bob! I'm glad that you enjoyed it! We're playing in C-G-C tuning with a capo on the first fret (the key of Dm).
Good
Great sound. I am happy you slowed it down to really get the tone of the song. I've been listening to a couple including De Danann and though they are really good players the song is way too fast. The pace is good. Also the one in irish dreams by alisa jones. Anyways i like it a lot.
Thank you for listening, Joshua! :-) You are right that I adopted a more moderate pace for this reel. I like to savor the melody; it is more expressive that way!
I keep coming back to enjoy this video. Such a pretty tune...
What type of microphone are you using, Jessica? I am looking for one like that.
Thank you for listening, Bob! I believe that in this video, you are hearing a combination of a Dean Marley acoustic pickup plugged into a Bose speaker which was then recorded with the built-in microphone on our video camera. :-)
Thanks Jessica!
I have never seen capos for dulcimers
Yes, they can come in very handy! :-) The one I am using is a Ron Ewing capo: www.jessicacomeaudulcimer.com/links-and-resources.html
Well done. Is that your arrangement?
Yes, Cyndi! I developed this version for mountain dulcimer. :-) Thank you for listening!
Lovely, might I ask what tuning are you in?
Thank you so much! I’m playing in D minor, so that’s CGC tuning with a capo on the first fret.
