    One of the best value for money cars out there . Just a shame most are overlooking sedans nowadays.

      It really is a lot of car for the money. A few buyers might be surprised at what they're missing out on by ignoring the midsize sedan segment.

    I cant wait to receive mine in March 2024. I opted for the serenity white colour. Waited 6 months for it to arrive in Australia to test drive. After seeing it in the flesh and test drive, I knew this was the perfect car for me. Spacious, powerful, comfortable and even luxurious imo. I was tossing up between this and the BMW 330I M sport, but came to my senses because this vehicle offers so much more value in terms of features, practicality and maintenance.

    • @gertsy2000
      @gertsy2000 Před 5 měsíci

      "because this vehicle offers so much more value in terms of features, practicality and maintenance." You can get 5 years free service in the deal for $2k and it's still multiples cheaper. If you knew the margins BMW have on their cars. well, it's a BMW yeah. You made a great choice. SUV = False safety.

    • @slyarsenal
      @slyarsenal Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@gertsy2000 Thanks. I actually received the car earlier than expected and have had it for a month already. It's a pleasure to drive. I don't regret my purchase whatsoever. I didn't want to buy an SUV because everyone seems to be following that trend and I always choose to be different. So far I haven't seen another 24 Sonata on the road and that's how I like it! I understand this feeling won't last long. It's definitely a head-turner with a few complimenting the vehicle.
      I got a good deal on the vehicle with all the accessories I wanted. I confirmed with various Hyundai reps that service is going to cost the same whether I chose to prepay for the 3 or 5 year plans or just paying per service. It's only about $350 per service give or take. I did try to squeeze 2yrs free service inclusive of my total price and accessories but I knew I was pushing it lol.

    I think what often goes under-reported is how practical a sedan is versus almost any kind of SUV/hatchback. Large trunks, especially like the Sonata typically has, easily swallow luggage and gear, whereas the relative small "footprint" of an SUVs cargo area is often cramped and small. Manufacturers get to boast about SUVs' cargo capacity numbers that appear bigger than a trunk but those numbers include all the space going up to the ceiling. And who can pack like that with a family for safe travels? I recently had to buy a new vehicle for our family, and I would have considered THIS mid-cycle refresh Sonata, but the current gen's "catfish" front end I just found too hard to look at, making me pass it by despite the Sonata's other good qualities. For Hyundai/Kia fans, if you don't like the styling, you can be sure in 3 or 4 years, you'll get a different look!

      I find sedans quite frustrating, I have a Passat sedan and boy do I wish it was a wagon or lift back, it has a large boot but a small opening, the other day I picked up a box that I could have fitted 4 of in the boot except it wouldn’t fit through the opening, fortunately I didn’t have any rear passengers and was able to put it on the backseat.

      @dmani8791 Funny I didn't like the 23 NLine either when it came out, I just seem to like it now, don't see many on the road in Australia, and like it as a overall package. The new 24 looks ok, but I think I'd get bored with the front after a while. Please tell me how are you finding the wheel spin and fuel economy?. Those are the two things that have me questioning if I made the right choice? I currently have a 16 Mazda 6 GT non turbo and get 10.5to11.5l per100km in the city. I'm hoping I get better in the sonata as I won't need to push as hard...

      @@The-Wise-One yeaaa the front of the 24 is definatly a low point, i dont like the whole “headlights being a line” thing hyundai is starting to lean towards. I like the front if the 23 WAY more and the back of the 24 slightly more. I like that the 24 doesnt have the button gear shifts tho. As much as I absolutely love my 23 thatS the only thing i can think of im not big on (also i wish it came with an AWD option)

    Im looking to upgrade my Honda Civic 2017 Turbo (60,000kms) with either this or a Elantra N Line (or 130N Line Sedan as called in Aus) when it comes out. Im thinking of getting both their top tiers ones when available.
    Looks wise I like this Sonata 2024 and the interior is just amazing.
    But which will be faster though?
    Which will have better tech?
    Which will be cheaper?
    Does the Sonata have that crackle and pop sound?
    I like a more sporty look with my car, Sonata is just slightly family car looking compared to Elantra N 2024 imo
    I always love the semi autonomous driving of Civic X models. I was wondering if these two new Hyundai models have em?from research before its not as complete or as extensive as the Civic X ones.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • @russell3436
    @russell3436 Před 10 měsíci

    Not sure if the i30 N is faster, this would have more punch up the top end, but sure the power to weight ratio favours the i30 N but the difference in roll-on performance is about 0.2 seconds which is unnoticeable in the real world.
    Having driven both I felt that the Sonata has more grunt from its bigger motor.
    In saying that, I’m currently a proud owner of a 2021 Sonata N Line, absolutely love the car, looks amazing and drives even more brilliantly, it’s an absolute rocket sled when you give it some punch and it shreds its front tyres like you’re in some F&F movie.
    When I first saw the facelift I was even more amazed by how sleek and futuristic it looks, this honestly looks like a completely new generation model rather than just a refresh, kudos to Hyundai at how far they have come in the world and have absolutely stepped up their game.
    I thought about doing a swap with my current Sonata N Line but the car has really grew on me and giving it away this early kind of makes it hard because both models look great in their own right.
    Perhaps in the near future I might trade it in for the new redesign as I’ve heard rumours this could be the end of the line for the Sonata which is a shame because these sporty sedans are great and an absolute hoot to drive but the Australian market as shifted to large vehicles such as SUV’s and Ute’s and gearing towards an electric future just like the rest of the world which makes it sad for the car enthusiast who enjoys driving sporty sedans.
    One thing I would say though is that I’m not a fan of the gimmicky steering column shifter, it can get quite annoying and I absolutely despised it in the Mercedes vehicles, always preferred just a standard gear shift and even the button shifter in the current Sonata is better, but overall the car is fantastic so you can look past it after a while.

      Hyundai is not the same as what it use to be a decade ago, these new Hyundai/Kia vehicles are next level and Hyundai has absolutely stepped up their game in the performance market, the N division is no joke, especially coming from a guy who worked on BMW M vehicles and the Audi TT, so he knows a thing or two about performance and fun. Your comment still has a bit of badge snobbiness about it and it’s a shame that people still can’t look past the badge of a car, if this car had a Mercedes badge it would be 30k more than what the asking price is, I recommend you test drive one, it’s an absolute rocketsled for a FWD car. And if you want to go all out horsepower figures then the IONIQ 5 N is the answer for you, but comparing these vehicles to a Mustang Dark Horse or Dodge Charger is like comparing apples to oranges as they don’t compete at all.

    Great review! Just wondering if it’s a concern that this car doesn’t have an ANCAP safety rating?
    Would this be a reason not to buy it?

    • @Drivecomau
      @Drivecomau  Před 5 měsíci +1

      While ANCAP hasn't tested the Sonata, that shouldn't be a major cause for concern. Overseas organisations like the NHTSA and IIHS have conducted testing and while there may be differences between overseas vehicles and LHD and RHD vehicles, it gives a baseline look at the kind of accident avoidance and passenger protection you could expect.
      you can find these results here: www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/hyundai/sonata-4-door-sedan/2024
      And here: www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2023/HYUNDAI/SONATA/4%252520DR/FWD (based on the 2023 model)

  • @PlaAwa
    @PlaAwa Před 10 měsíci

    i guess, it's worth the price increase because of inflation, covid, wars, chronology, refinement and that handsome facelift. plus, you can have two of these for the price of one mazda cx-90 and remember that gentleman's agreement in Japan re 206 kW? well, those cars were fast, even when the actually met the limitation. still, i want to own an inline six with awd and light interior and i can only drive one car at a time. then again, i may want to pocket $55k while owning this really good looker that i wouldn't mind driving around in. i wonder whether other markets get awd and light interiors? never been a fan of grey. also, there's a slight chance this look will date like in the staria, which started to just look like a tarago after a while. and the other models with this 'all the way across' led strip or what have you. tough call but i think they have room to go right up to the competing skoda's price with added features like the ones mentioned. the japanese are going there and hyundai's now respectable enough to get away with it. in light of this, it's defs worth the bigger price. those designers deserve a bonus. right up there with the mazda 3 hatchback.
