- Learn how to fold closed and open square twists, and see examples of these two twists in origami tessellations.
You'll need two 8-fold square grids and a 24-fold square grid to follow along (or just the 24-fold grid to practice the tessellation).
The pattern you'll learn in this video is called Open-Closed Stripes.
The crease pattern for this tessellation is included in the Summer of Twists ebook: gatheringfolds.com/collection...
You can get Skytone paper and a bone folder from me here: gatheringfolds.com/products/f...

Madonna estoy feliz por regresar a plegar contigo teselados! Thanks a lot!!
You're very welcome! Feliz plegando!
Thanks for making this video. It was really helpful and informative. I appreciate how thorough you are.
You're very welcome, Willow! I'm glad you found it helpful! 😍
Would you please include in the description section your sources for the paper you use? I could not find Skytone and don’t know if it’s the vellum or cardstock. I can find Tant and like it very much for tessellations. Paper sold for origami can be very poor for tessellations. Thank you much. 🦌💌❤️📚
It's the 60T weight vellum, and I get it from the manufacturer at www.mohawkconnects.com/products/paper/mohawk-skytone
Enjoy!
👍
I cannot find instructions for the 24-fold grid. I did the triangle based grid but I am becoming very confused as to how all the sessions are integrated. I cannot find the Tesselation Foundation videos, only a description.
Hi Gillian, sorry this has been confusing for you! You can sign up for free to see the Tessellation Foundation videos here: training.gatheringfolds.com/start
Once you've signed up you'll log in to my website to watch those videos (you'll get an email with instructions).
is there such a thing as a pentagonal twist? can you make videos on pentagonal tesselations?
Excellent question - while it is possible to fold pentagonal twists, it's not possible to fold them on a regular (evenly spaced, triangle or square) grid and it's not possible to use them as a position of rotational symmetry in a repeating pattern. However, it's entirely possible to fold twists that *look like* pentagons but are secretly using six pleats and I talk about some of those options here: czcams.com/video/DiQlaDqYiv8/video.html
@@GatheringFolds thanks for the reply. Love your videos
You're very welcome, @anuvette! There's so much to explore in origami - welcome back!
