    You do NOT need to change the engine crossmember. If you get the right mounts, the pan clears properly. The Advance Adapter adapter plates with factory clamshell mounts work mint for example. The later LS engines do not have a TAC module, so folks need to check the vehicle it's coming out of to see if that donor uses the TAC module system. Some radiators on the LS HAD the upper hose that goes to the driver's side depending upon the water pump inlets. What you spoke of is "correct" based on your particular usage/setup, it's not 100% correct.

      Lots of manufacturers make motor plates these days for LS swaps for almost any application! It’s crazy!! Back to square body Chevy/GMC you are correct in not having to modify or replace the cross member, although the LS series of motors have rather wide oil pans and it is nice to have the extra clearance with aftermarket cross members like Off Road Design.

    • @alphathefirstone1222
      @alphathefirstone1222 Před 4 lety +1

      yes .. 700r4 is a mech verson of the 4l60e... Call Summit.. You need a Shim (that what they call it) and a new flywheel. Some people use the flywheel from the old engine but I do not recommend .. it cheap and better to buy new.. bell housing is fine. You will not use all the bolts in the bell housing. I believe it the top bolt .. But all other botl up.. Also need kickdown cable and wield it to throttle cable if you running drive by manual cable.. Would not run drive by e wire due to more complications. YOu can run a manual oldschool speedo for the 700r4 speed sensor. Finally cross member will be same place . Maybe drill new holes but you should not. If it 4x4 the 241c or 208c tranfercase should bolt right up.. Once again.. Summit is the best for getting parts and ANSWERS if you get lost.. I have a 1990 k5 with 5.3 ls swap/4l60e to 241c transfercase 4x4.. Good luck.. B1.

    I've got a 16' Chevy 2500 with 170,000 miles on the 6.0. All maintenance has been done religiously. However, it appears (according to my local mechanic) that the "squeak" that has developed, is a lifter that has gone bad. My guy says the lifter has a wheel on the bottom of it that gets pitted and rubs on the cam wrong. He says this is a common problem with the LS and that I'd be better off putting a whole new engine in it than fixing it because there's a little bit of metal in the filter. Have you or anyone else heard of this problem?

    • @MerricksGarage
      @MerricksGarage  Před 4 lety

      Yea. Not good news

    • @dukeloster923
      @dukeloster923 Před 4 lety +1

      Some of the new LS motors have developed lifter/roller rocker issues. In this case it sounds like the roller bearing/s is skipping(rollers not getting proper oiling and not spinning but bouncing on the cam lobe). Mostly I’ve herd on gen 4 and up LS motors 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 etc.
      Once there’s metal in the oil pan the motor (any motor) needs to be autopsied and look for any good hard parts.. then a full rebuild or purchase a full rebuild/junkyard motor.
