Napoleonic Wars: from Trafalgar to Friedland - Season 1 FULL

- Napoleon, upon ascending to First Consul of France in 1799, had inherited a chaotic republic; he subsequently created a state with stable finances, a strong bureaucracy, and a well-trained army. In 1805, Austria and Russia waged war against France. In response, Napoleon defeated the allied Russo-Austrian army at Austerlitz in December 1805, which is considered his greatest victory. At sea, the British inflicted a severe defeat in the Battle of Trafalgar in October 1805 upon the joint Franco-Spanish navy, securing British control of the seas and preventing the invasion of Britain itself. Prussian concerns about increasing French power led to a resumption of war in October 1806. Napoleon quickly defeated the Prussians, and defeated Russia in June 1807, bringing an uneasy peace to the continent.

Your videos are amazing!!! I want to suggest you only one thing. Painting the map so it's easier to understand which territories belong to each faction
Hola para cuándo los sub títulos en español ?
Paul the first didn't just "die" he was assassinated by the British. There is no way in hell they didn't have a hand in his death. You should have said it but you left it out. Why?
ترجمة عربية ؟؟
I am very happy that you mentioned the EXTREMELY important fact that the UK ordered the assassination of Czar Paul.
However, your overview of the battle of Austerlitz aka “Napoleon’s Masterpiece” was not only wrong on the facts (like the well known fact that the casualties on the “broken ice” that were increased by French propaganda orders of magnitude, and in reality numbered only several hundred is well known and widely distributed), but missing an entire section that was the apex of the battle. The arrival of Devout! LoL.
That was Napoleon’s whole plan.
This channel is the true King and General of CZcams history channels!
EveryMan better than history channel.
EveryMan And hurtling towards God-King status
Historia civilis is still better for me, but this channel has much more frequent uploads and awesome graphics, so it's really close
Ruben, we are going to change that. :-)
Kings and Generals
I never clicked so fast since defeating a coalition 3 times in 3 days...
:D
😂😂😂😂
Who's this coming over the hill? Is it a monster? Nope, it's Sir Arthur Wellesley!
@@mustafabeer1791 Arthur Wellesley was just a lucky punk, chill.
Napoleon was/is Napoleon
Ah well, it was old Boney himself that said give me a lucky general, not bad for a jumped up little tyrant!
This is a better documentary in every way(visuals, audio, content) than the ones in history channel
Thank you very much for that praise. :-)
Breaking news - Millennials are killing TV!
Kings and Generals This actually reminds of the old History Channel... Back when we still called it “The Hitler Channel”
History channel went to crap with the Ancient Aliens/Pawn Stars/American Pickers marathons that are always on. They wouldn't be bad if there was like 2 or 4 episodes a day, but the endless reruns to the exclusion of all else is ridiculous.
Nah EpicHistoryTV is better
This is what the history channel wants to be when it grows up.
No matter the unfortunate end, Napoleon had BALLS of steel. Rare leader...
Either Napoleon is a genius. Or the Prussian, Austrian and Russian forces and leaders are incompetent mainly.
Napoleon was a great strategist, it is known. But still the incompetence at times is incredible.
Most of the times, it is about putting the things together. Napoleon had too much skill for his opponents.
Kings and Generals
I agree, but a few small details really rankle me, e.g - the use of different calendars during war time, especially when coordinating battlefiled and meeting pints over the course of weeks.
And there seems to be a massive lack of communication between anyone in the coalition.
I don't doubt his genius and skills though, I loved you're newest video about the peninsular wars and look forward too more!
I've been binging your videos for a few hours now lol.
It's easy to judge the Coalition in hindsight with the benefits of seeing things from a bird's-eye view
His opponents were competent, particularly Kutuzov for the Russians. But that is just it. They were competent but nothing special. Napoleon up to 1808 was nothing less than brilliant.
One thing to note here is that a Homogeneous army with a centralized leadership will always have a huge advantage than a coalition with many leaders. An example is Austerlitz, napoleon didnt even convene his entire war council. He directed them with unquestionable authority while the other side bickered and was in dispute about the tactics. Because of this napoleon was always able to react in time while the other side lacked centralized leadership. Another example is when napoleon was faced with another well led homogeneous army he would struggle like with Marengo, Eylau, Borodino, these battles he won but he struggled non the less.
This Napoleon guy seems promising, I hope nothing bad will happen to him
czcams.com/video/67h8GyNgEmA/video.html
PrimalForlorn cough cough
Well... Napoleon's penis is in New Jersey... probably not his ideal.
It always amazes me that military leaders in pre-modern times had such a clear idea what was going on on the battlefield. They had no radios or telephones, or aircraft to fly over the area, and yet they were able to understand and respond to the enemies movements, move their forces and time their attack as if they were playing a video game or a game of chess.
Aliens 👽
they had scouts and binocluars. also horses and messengers. It would be a challenge, but possible
They had countless scouts , and messengers on horse . They knew exactly how long it took for the letter to arrive , and Napoleon had to also calculate in the delay for any order given . It’s was 24/7 , a constant chain of horses ready to relay the latest news . Napoleon would get messages non stop from different flanks in his army .
Part of it could be that they're armies were often on one giant battlefield, maybe a few miles across, instead of having dozens of small armies cruising all over the place in jeeps and humvees like we do now. Technology was worse, but big battles were more contained.
There is a reason the command was always on the highest elevation
48 minutes of awesome battles from an awesome commander? I know what I'm doing for the next 50 minutes...
Season 2 will be much better with improved visuals and animations :)
Kings and Generals Can't wait!
The first episode of the second season is now up: czcams.com/video/k0eDQCuSjmA/video.html
watching this video and beating off😜
I've just returned from shopping with few cans of beer. What a marvelous coincidence.
That is the best kind of shopping. :-) And by few, you mean 10, right? :-)
well i just 'saw a guy aboot a dug'...am tuning into this n tuning oot at the same time....yeeeeha!
Ten? Don't be silly. Exactly sixteen beers
It's been a year- grab a couple more beers and get this as a bonus- two incidents coming together in a funny way is a coincident* :D
I consider Napoleon to be an endlessly intriguing character to read about. And the battles he fought to be fun epics. At times I actually fine myself rooting for him. My compliments to those who made this video a reality.
This could be a movie night for me😃😃
:-)

Currently I am reading War and Peace, by Tolstoy and the visual explanation of the Napoleonic wars is so much help.
MANY THANKS.
Thanks for watching! Tolstoy is great, especially if you have time to contemplate. :-) We will cover all of the Napoleonic Wars, so be sure to subscribe!
You guys got me interested in the Early Modern/Modern period of history with the Napoleonic Wars series. Didn't know much about it beforehand, I liked Classical and Medieval times more.
Glad to hear it. Antiquity and Medieval are interesting, but in terms of detail and facts, the Early Modern era is richer.
The first episode of the second season is now up: czcams.com/video/k0eDQCuSjmA/video.html
So nice to hear. Napoleon is such an interesting historical figure, he casts an incredible aura over everyone.
I am inlove with the Napoleonic series. I admire the way you recreate battles in a fantastic perspective.
Thank you! The second season should be even better. :-)
The timing of the animated maps and narration are perfect. This is exactly the way people who enjoy re-fighting these battles with table top maps/counters or PC programs like to see them presented! Great work!
Ramadan Started so sorry for being late 😅😅😅
Definitely best short movie I have ever seen
Ramadan mubarak!
Kings and Generals same to you sir
I will pray that your channel will reach atleats 300K by Eid
Least I can do for you
This...this was simply amazing. Your channel is every history nerd and armchair general's dream. Kudos!
Thank you very much for the praise. We are working on the second season of the Napoleon Wars.
The subtle sarcasm of the narrator is what really lands this channel into my heart
this guy deserves every single sub. I have never seen anything so well put together and so brilliantly illustrated. bravo sir. bravo.
You always have a great analysis, K&G!
“Nelson confides that every man will do his duty” was the original message, but due to a shortage of time the quicker to send “ England Expects” was substituted. This was to cast a long shadow and inspire the Royal Navy for the next 200 years, as it still does.
Yeah too bad the UK isnt just "England" and includes other countries eh?
As the popular phrase goes; if Andrew Murray wins Wimbledon he’s Scottish, if not he’s British. Not especially proud of my country, but the growing romanticisation of nationalism worries me.
Nelson/England/Britain/U.K. doesn’t expect their Seaman to die. They expect them to win. Seaman did not put their lives at risk for King and Country, they did it for their shipmates and the prize money.
Your videos are frighteningly good. I think you did your best one EVER with this one.
Undoubtedly the best video from Kings and generals
You guys just continue to blow me away with your quality and your choices of what to show us. Well done!
Glad to hear it! :-)
Watching this makes me want a napoleon two total war.. but with a world map attached.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind Total War: Napoleon 2!
This is the first time that I watch a video with this length without skip. Even though I have watch all these videos separately, you guys really special and unique.
Thank you very much for being with us!
Terrific videos and information as usual. Keep up the good work y’all!
We will, thank you! :-)
@@KingsandGenerals ya, good stuff :)
Kings and Generals has been one of my go-to channels whenever I need a summary of any event in history ❤️
OH MY GOODNESS! YES 50 Minutes of incredible history. THANK YOU!
Thank you for watching! Our Ottoman series will eventually be a 4-5 hour video, we hope. :-)
Can't wait!
What a great way to relax after a long day of studies, thank you so much for this great work !!
Thank you for watching!
Just over a year ago this beauty of a video was released. Thank you for this great content.
Thanks again for this great production. One of histories great commanders.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for making this one condensed video! Very much appreciated!
We appreciate you watching! :-)
This is a master piece... You guys truly have brought a monumental historical figure back to life... Napoleon is MASSIVE IN LIFE AND EVEN IN DEATH AS MILITARY COMMANDOR AND POLITICIAN. But his blunders showed his fragility as just a regular man TRYING TO ACHIEVE THE THINGS OF A god King...
Newer videos are better. :-)
Amazing Work, can't wait for season 2
Thank you! Very soon!
Your work on all your videos are amazing, i love it 10/10. Keep it up guys.
Thank you, we will!
Yes, you do a excellent work. So i can only wish you do a video about the Swedish military history like the Great northen war or even some other more unusual and successful in our military history. You will be the first to do that kind of videos on whole youtube. I would be most honored.
This is a fantastic review of the Napoleonic war! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Love it. Also the length! The other ones are way too short In my opinion. Keep it up. Looking forward
Man you’re fast becoming the best documentary channel imo
Thank you very much! :-)
This is gonna be EPIC!!
The second season will be even better. :-)
Looking forward to it!
Thank you for the great content!
Thank you so much for uploading this video. It is helping me get through the pandemic!
This is the series that first got me introduced to this great channel! Can't wait for season 2!!!
Absolutely stunning!
Thank you!
Who here is a total war fan?

I am... I have a picture(painting) of Napoleon in my bedroom

Interesting.
I have a painting of Scipio Africanus.
Roma aeterna.
"ROME IS MOTHER TO US ALL!!!!!!"
TCA should really make Napoleon II and Empire II. It's possible but improbable which is like a sad dream.
I always enjoy these big documentaries. I listen to a bit every night before bed
This is better than the History Channel.
Thank you for the kind praise!
Kings and Generals Your welcome.
Thanks. :-)
Honestly, that's setting the bar kind of low bro! Lol!
I failed an exam. But atleast a 50 min full Season is here to comfort me.
Sorry to hear that. Best of luck in your future studies.
Don't worry about that too much. A students work for the B students, and the D students win elections.
Almost 49 minutes in one episode!!!
I'm blessed...
Thank you!
another masterpiece by kings and generals
thank you
Thank you for watching!
Cant wait for season 2!
Looks really good. :-)
"This is the Kings and Generals Channel and we are fucking awesome" - should be the tagline
Thank you! :-)
Thank you!! Always looking for good history docs!!
Nice can't wait for Season 2. I like these sort of documentary length videos! Keep it up! I'll watch it later, but (since I already watched them) I know they are top notch! keep it up!
We will, thank you very much! :-)
big fan of the channel , too bad we dont hear enough about The Old Guard , which is in my opinion , one of the best fighter regiment of all times
Thank you very much! We'll have a separate series on the armies of this period.
I live for this
:-)

Great narration as always Devin
Love when this guy takes over the radio waves!!
48:35 paused with the closed captioning on " but we'll be back in a few months with a second season containing at least five million videos"
*Grabs popcorn*
Lmao
It would be great if you covered the important battles of WW1 such as the Somme or Verdun but anyways fell free to do what you want to do!
Great vid as always!
We will :)
@@KingsandGeneralscould I suggest that if you ever remake the Diodochi war series that you bring up the fact that many diadochi used alexanders portrait on there coins to try and help legitimate there claim to the empire.
Also it feels criminal that the elephant denarius wasn't a footnote somewhere in the Gallic wars series. Very important and iconic coin. In general coinage history is rather underrated.
Also great work on this series! Do you ever plan to finish it?
Appreciate all the great content you make :)
These are splendid documentaries. So glad I found them.
Welcome aboard!
Simply amazing. Keep up the great work.
We will, thank you! :-)
Awesome Fellas, now I havta get back to work cause I took 48.55 break! So looking forward to your next video!

I just felt that I'm in spaceship while watching these bloody wars from top.
Ah! Napoleon was tough man.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for it!
This truly is one of the best channels on CZcams.
Thank you very much! :-)
PLEASE keep this narrator...he is simply the best
From what I recall very few ships from these engagements were "sunk" in battle but were rathere rendered immobile, captured, or surrendered. For the battle of Trafalgar for example, I believe there was only 1 ship sunk. All the other ships "lost" were captured and then sunk in the ensuing storm.
Well ye sinking engineering marvels is kind of difficult. No point sinking ships that could be captured or scrapped for parts
omg best channel
Thank you for watching :)
Can't wait for season two! Napoleon versus the seasons
Amazing the effort to make such a magnific documentary! Well done!
Thank you for watching!
C’mon, it’s been six months since the Freidland video! Eagerly waiting for second season.
True. Working on it. :-)
hey your videos are fantastic, but can you include a distance scale on the screen so we can see/approximate the distances that forces are moving?
Thank you! We tried on a few occasions, but it never worked. Will try again.
This is amazing work. Good job!

"napoleon started forming a new order in Germany"
- A new order rising in germany isnt ususally a very good sign
Nazi Germany: *"crackles in V1 rockets."*
EU: “act natural and they might not draw the connection..”
Marshall Davout was the true spiritual heir of Napoléon a real military genius too !
Nice video with clear explaining of historic event
I was astounded by the EPICness of this video.
Combining the individual videos, into one short film? Hell yes, sir *salutes*
Oh baby...and you used Napoleon Total War music.
God damnit Villanueve
Thanks for watching! :-) The second season will be even longer and better. :-)
Kings and Generals That’s what she said.
Great video can you do one like this for Rome?
Thanks. Not yet, we still need to make more videos on Rome before then.
Too nice video with clear explaining 👍👍
Love the history and great music choices.

Is this the summary of already made videos?
That is correct. To watch all in one place.
Kings and Generals will you do that with the rest of the videos aswell? I think it's a great idea. It would be nice to have an hr lesson in why one shouldn't kill mongol envoys.
Planning to!

awesome content man thanksssss

Earlier in the video you mentioned something about the haitian revolt. If is possible, can you make a video or more about that revolt + other revolts and military campaigns in that area, starting with the conquest and finishing with how those countries got their independence.
We'll need to consider it!
