  • Consumer Behaviour is at the heart of any successful marketing strategy. It begins with understanding why and how consumers behave the way they do. Consumer Behaviour is about examining consumers as they go through the Purchase Decision Process and the internal and external factors that influence them.

    I really appreciate the challenge on this one. Even starting with "problem recognition", I believe most business owners and their marketing efforts jump to "my product is for everyone" before they address how the consumer even recognizes their needs for the product in their messaging. Thank you for this education!

      You nailed it! It's like throwing paint to a wall and hoping it sticks. I think that many business owners are afraid of narrowing their target market for fear of losing potential customers. But if they can dig a little deeper, as you see, they will find greater depth in their marketing campaigns with a better understanding of their consumer's behaviour and key characteristics. 👍

    Dear Sir, thank you for simplifying the concept. Could you kindly advise the difference between 2 concepts: “Consumer Decision Making Process” and “Customer Journey” in the online context? Thank yo u in advanced!

      The customer journey describes the path a consumer will make toward a purchase. The buying stages describe the decision making process. 👍

    Great video, thank you for breaking down the process. If I was to introduce Chatbots to my ecommerce website, At which of the 5 stages does it relate to? and how does introducing chatbots effect the consumer decision process?

      This would come into play at the Information Search stage, when the consumer is actively looking for more info. I was actually thinking of doing a video on chatbots -- so your timing is great. I believe that in a world where people want immediate answers and responses -- chatbots can give this, even if it is limited. Chat bots allow the consumer to believe they are being listened to and that the company cares about their business. But maybe more on that when I do the video. 👍

    How can the post-purchase behavior of our market affect their future purchase
    decisions?

    • @SolveItLikeAMarketer
      @SolveItLikeAMarketer  Před 3 lety +1

      That is a great question! This would relate to buying patterns and shift in buying behaviour. If the post purchase experience has generally been positive then there will be a high trust level in the future. But if the consumer has a bad experience this may cause more cognitive dissonance going forward. To be honest, it also depends on the general psychological make-up of the individual -- are they laid back, high stress, tend to worry, tend to trust / do they seek outside sources for verification.
