They went from Chunk Token to Funk Token. Love it
That´s what I was thinking, funky jazz ending
💀💀💀
Hopefully not punk Token lmaoooo
I would love to see a phonk token
@@CruciaLou ahahaha fucking hate it
"That part fuckin fucks" My favorite phrase of 2023 so far
I'm laughing so hard at that lol
OMG I laughed so hard at that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think its funny that both Metalbird and HardCore wore silent planet t-shirts while listening to this ridiculously awesome song
both bought at the same show too
Weirdly, the funk ending wasn't the biggest surprise of the song for me. It was the guitar solo. That is super unusual for Sleep Token.
telomeres had one and it was epic
My favourite bit just throw this outrageous solo in
The solo was awesome, agreed
it's that guitar tone man, it's so beautiful was like a gut punch
All that hornyness, chunky groove, synth elements & dreamy vibes is what Thornhill should have become. Never felt something like this since The Dark Pool.
Bro it's January 6, and best song of the year already dropped. We can move to 2024.
Only sleep token could pull a funk outro out their ass and everyone go "ok that works". Truely genre crossing at times is what people say bout them. This is just more proof.
So many bands do this sort of thing though... I've been listening to stuff like this for years and I'm starting to feel like I've just gone insane now that more people are hearing it.
Well, not really. Twelve Foot Ninja succesfully mixed progressive metal, funk, disco, tango/bossa nova, reggae and other genres for the better part of a decade.
@@colbyboucher6391share the knowledge bro
@@wllulu They're basically taking what prog metal has been doing for the past decade or so and making it... less prog, more metal. TBH I think a lot of the people coming from the metalcore side of things wouldn't like most of it? Not sure.
But some of my favorite bands recently have been Vola, Leprous (at least everything before Malina, Bilateral is insane), every band Devin Townsend has been in... Native Construct, too. Some of what Hacken has done.
This song *really* feels like they took some inspiration from Vola and Leprous especially. The Deftones and Tool obviously, too.
The scary thing about Sleep Token is they are still so slept on as a band. Yet they’re still taking over regardless
Yeh man thats actually so very scary, not sure what to do
this song will blow them up for sure but i hope they do more heavy shit like this
guess what
They went from putting me in a chokehold to completely pummeling me into concrete with these singles
Cause GAWD DAYUM
"He thinks this crazy" was all of us when we first heard this song haha. Thank you Bogdan for introducing me to this band! Worship.
If the rest of the album is as strong as these 2 tracks, this could be my favourite Sleep Token album
I loved their last album, would’ve been on my AOTY list if i hadn’t waited til 2022 to listen to it.
But these two tracks are by far their two best tracks, so whatever record they belong to, it’ll be their best album 😂
It’s just singles so far. There is no album so far.
@@DrDeathbat Sure, but i’m referring to whatever album/ep these end up being a part of, if that’s what they end up being
@@DrDeathbat Well guess what
There's an album
@@JesusOfPaign there is an album, called, take me back to eden. Get hype
It is insane to me how they managed to go from stupidly heavy to jazzy and funky in the same song and make it flow perfectly.
If that's an idea that you like you might appreciate Bilateral by Leprous and Quiet World by Native Construct. Maybe some of Devin Townsend's music (especially his latest album Empath). ...Also VOLA's first EP, Monsters.
@@colbyboucher6391 i actually love pretty much all of those bands, Leprous, Devin Townsend, and Vola are great!
@@rewoundmusic2312 Lmao I was on the money.
The way this huge army of metalcore fans are getting introduced to this kinda psuedo prog metal sound is making me go a little insane. On one hand I'm massively excited, and on the other It's already a flood of "wOw has anyone done this before?"
@@colbyboucher6391 yeah lol I feel you
Tbh the end part did not blend in good at all hence why they had to do a whole min of just pure “vibes” and the breakdown or the two breakdowns both generic one is a triplet which we heard a bunch and the other is just a two step me personally this song had nothing unique about it at all
died when he said the tone was O B E S E
Vessel REALLY stepped up his game as a scream vocalist for this song... He used to just kinda yell and it wasn't... great for his voice.
yeah hearing him live now and it seems like he figured out proper technique
Just wait til you hear Vore.
@@massaj88 oh I have. Vessel’s got PIPES.
@@Pepper_Jvck POIPES
Actually it was IV i believe who did a huge load of screaming on this song
The final jazz part was bridge into final chorus. So gooood.
I think part of the story was that vessel had an...ahem...intimate encounter with "sleep"
This makes sense with the way the song is laid out. They did the summoning for sexy time with "sleep" which seemingly explains the "bow chicka wow wow" ending.
Bro that scream during the second half of the breakdown is nuts. I didn't expect him to sound so good, it used to be kinda weak and really raw when he screamed but that has POWER behind it. Gave me goosebumps. I love this song.
The more I listen to this song the more I realize how much of a masterpiece it is. They literally switched genres in the song and did it so well. We had a hard hitting breakdown, nice double kicks, soft ambiant, and at the end we had a jazzy blue. This is something different that you can’t really tell the genre of this song.
There's plenty of bands that do this, they've just never been very popular before.
@@colbyboucher6391 if no one’s heard of them there’s a reason for it
Saw them tonight together with Northlane as special guests for Architects. Was absolutely incredible and they delivered a great show.
Good lord that’s a powerhouse of a lineup!
my biggest regret is i didn’t fly out to attend this show
Honestly the way they releasing this is such a great idea and it builds hype
I just love that they never do what you expect them to - but it always kills.
Tbh they usually follow the same formula in every song, especially on the last album. This song is definitely the best thing they’ve ever released in my opinion.
Usually I love reaction channels to discover a song along with the reactors... for this song I heard it before the reactions and it's been SO enjoyable knowing what's coming and seeing you go through the same rollercoaster of emotions I did on first listen 😂
What I love the most about these singles is how Sleep Token is starting to feel more like a band rather than just Vessel having his guys around him. Not implying this has been Vessel's own vanity project or anything, especially since Vessel II has always been a highlight. But I like the new direction more because of how it sounds "fuller"? And I don't feel like this only has to do with the production or it being heavier. The guitar solo and the funky part both say a lot about this. They're making different decisions while remaining true to themselves and I'm all for it. Simply incredible and I can't wait for the rest!
I think touring together and meeting other bands has really allowed them to grow and expand, but also just achieve absolute creative mesh.
i've been listening to this on repeat. it's like an entire album in 1 song. they are madmen!
The blend of the piano melodies and distorted guitars is so beautiful and that break down(s) all hit harder than a fueled up drunk
Album of the year is going to be VERY hard to decide if Sleep Token, Spiritbox and Make them Suffer release new albums in the same year.
Plus Loathe. They said they wouldn’t be doing their 2022 tour in the UK to start working on a new album. So hopefully 👀
All I know is this is going to be a good year for us fans
Don't forget Invent Animate
@@jpthemusicenjoyer to finish their album not start on it. It was already underway I’m pretty sure
Don’t forget Currents. They could drop one this year too
Currents and Polaris and Kingdom of Giants though
The part at 2:26 is how you know a true metalhead lol. You heard half a chug and had to pause it and run it back 😂
This song is transcendent bro. Like I can’t help but have it on repeat the chorus is absolutely phenomenal
calling it now, one of my songs of the year. this song is beyond a journey and such an evolution of their sound that i can’t help but literally drool over it. i mean they’ve always been one of my favourite bands but now, they’re moving up, a LOT.
Nice, very nice. Let's see Paul Allens song of the year.
It's nice to see Sleep Token let the guitarist shine more.
such a great song, if you can even call this journey a song anymore. it feels like more
It’s just a song bro chill
@@OccupiedMuffins it's not "just a song" fr
@@OccupiedMuffins ur name is dennis, shut up

@@OccupiedMuffins no.
2:24 that moment cracked me up
clicked on the video just see that reaction
These two singles so far are absolute bangers, this could be album of the year material already.
Honestly at this point the only thing you can expect from Sleep Token is that its gonna be great. Anything else is up in the air.
I love that every person I have seen watch the ending makes the same face. It's a freaking vibe
Imo this is the best Sleep Token song i ve heard . The song have everything i love about this band and explores a lot of the potential heavyness they tease in other songs, and then that outro leading to that "blues breakdown" is so refreshing and different, i dont remember the last time i ve been this satisfacted with a song .
Saw them live last night - the most insane band I have ever seen and the craziest part is they sound exactly the same live.
This might be one of my favorite tunes i have heard in 28 years
They got me hooked. Now I NEED their third song
we need the ALBUM😂
This might be Sleep Token's best song, like from an objective sense. An actual journey where for each sound they wanted to accomplish they went full in instead of going half measures like a lot of their music does. When they wanted to go heavy they went HEAVY, when they wanted to groove, they went intensely groovie.
That chorus is freakin gorgeous
Discovered Sleep Token because of you 4 days ago and now I am going to a concert this next Friday, in Berlin to see Northlane, Architects and SLEEP TOKEN, being Northlane one of my favourite bands 🖤🔥
The magical ambience this album is generating reminds me of the Thornhill days with "Dark Pool" coming out of the oven.
The good days
@@Ally_and_Gigs those were good times yeah 😅
"That part fucking FUCKS" My thoughts exactly
A phenomenal song. They keep getting better it’s amazing
So glad they brought back these super long and progressive songs. Calcutta was literally my first Sleep Token song and hearing them getting THIS big is so beautiful.
Calcutta was my first as well. It's been an experience following them. Such an unreal band
20k views in a day? Bro you’re killing this one haha. This track is so mind blowing and incredibly written.
Sleep Token got slept on by me for a long time. Can’t ignore anymore. Going back into the discography.
Seeing them live as a guest before architects was a real treat
I've heard Hypnosis before, this song made me check out the rest of their discography last night when I decided to check this song out on a whim because I saw it in my recommended and it had just dropped minutes ago lol
this song fucks
Im seeing them tomorrow with northlane and architects together. I’m a happy boiiiiii
Never have I cried tears of joy after hearing the perfect chorus until this song
ive been waiting since i woke up to see your reaction to this... actually the best song ive ever heard
Sleep Token 🤝 Polyphia
When I first heard it it was like RED and thornhill had a baby the guitar riff sounded like cauterize.
The entire song is absurdly good, but when that solo hit i had the exact same reaction. 😂
They made their heavy break down to a funk break down. That is brilliant!!! 😢 That high hat!
These guys are going places, Jesus this new music is incredible
Had no idea who these guys where until recently and these guys are unbelievably talented musicians and I'm liking the heavy jenty vibe with the soulful vocals and funk fucking digging this new style I'm here for it 🤘
That twist ending, though... masterfully done!
Shampoo comparison killed me
It became the number 1 heavy song on spotify
Heaviest song of the year..... somewhere Will Ramos just sat up in his chair, we might regret that line haha
Honestly love this song, This Place will become your tomb was my top played album last year, but this new sort of direction is AMAZING
Apparently the new album is called Take Me Back To Eden
My buddy sent me a text for both Chokehold and The Summoning when they released. I checked here first to see if Bogdan had released the reaction before I listened to it. I wish I listened to the reaction first, because they always make me so happy, hahaha. New Sleep Token makes my year, and the year just started!
Progressive-Shoegaze-Funk-Core at its finest? 🤔
Honestly this is my new favorite Sleep Token song since Sundowning, hands down no contest. They are changing the game and I love it!
Sleep Token out here blending metal with every genre like they are Bilmuri
These singles are blowing me away. Was luke warm on them before but god damn they've won me over.
The change ups, my friend!!! These individuals are on a level that I haven’t heard in a hot minute! It’s on a level of Rivers of Nihil with the musical shifts. I’ve been listening to Sleep Token since the Calcutta days and this track hits in ways I can’t explain…from the shoegaze, to the thrall/breakdown, to the funk-groove ending. They definitely know what they’re doing!!!
I love songs like this. I'm definitely looking forward to the album now.
“Hey guys what style is our new song gonna be?”
Sleep token: “yes”
the production value in this is crazy so much flavour in all the little parts. i want more
I absolutely love this song, it fucks. That being said, the funk drop at the end makes perfect sense in 1 context only.... this song in its entirety is about monster fuckers.
Probably a top 5 track from the band. So unique
What a band. The jazzy guitar solo at 03:00 reminded me a lot of Jinjer's "Pisces" :)
2:33 A very cool breakdown! I'm surprised! 🤘🔥
its this one man, they finally have gripped me
This reminds me of Loathe soo much
a bit yeah
“Alt metal song reminds me of other alt metal song” fascinating take
@@S1L3NTD34TH let people have fun
Now I’m even more excited for what Loathe has in store for us
I screamed so many times on the first listen 😭😆 amazing song! Cannot wait to see them live this month 🙌
hahaha your rollercoaster of emotions that you went through was identical to how i reacted the first time i listened. loved the vid, man
This is two songs and a intermission in the middle. Thats amazing!
“That part f*cking f*cks” best part of the video 😂 3:35
SOTY and we’re not even a week in
I saw them yesterday with Architects and Northlane and I've seen both bands, but Sleep Token... Damn that was sth else. They're sooo increble live. I can Highlights recommend going to their live shows. To me they were much more interesting than the 2 hours Architects Set. Architects was really really good, probably one of the best metal shows I've ever seen. But Sleep Token... that was magical.
Hearing Chokehold live and already knowing the words was great, sadly they don't play Summoning, but they played my fav ST song, The Love You Want, wich made me happy. This band is sth else. And I really don't like progressive metal. But to me this is different, it has pop vibes and I just love their Sound.
Just discovered sleep token on Monday, I work a desk job and I think this song immediately jumped to my most played song. This song fucks and I think the funniest part is that none of my coworkers know that I'm just listening to this beautiful masterpiece!
Amazing reaction hardcore. These last two songs have been an experience like no other. The band is special and vessel is not human. Worship. 💙
this was easily my fav reaction video from you my guy. Cheers
Apart from the song being absolutely masterful, the synth section with the big change-up reminds me of Sewerslvt and I'm so here for it
What an amazing ride of a song, would love to see them live!
didnt think they'd get better than the last two albums but godamn this is the best song they've ever written
god didn’t think it would get better but it just did
it just got better the second listen with u bogdan, very fcking good intro for 2k23
Never listened to them before until chokehold cuz it had cool artwork and it's great and this song is even better! Love the singer's voice and will definitely be going through their catalogue. Fans of the band recommended me some of your favourite songs please:)
Bro definitely. Mine, offering, dark signs, give, high water, higher, gods, levitate 💜
Hypnosis is also a banger
hypnosis
Definitely check out The Offering, Jaws, Hypnosis, Higher, Dark Signs, High Water
"The night does not belong to God" is easily one of their best. If it's heavy you want then The Offering, Hypnosis, High water, and Gods.
It's funny how EVERYONE have the same reaction about sleep token songs.
Bro this is spicy, heavy, chill, surprising, sexy
Very sick track, kinda reminds me of Thornhill from Dark Pool era (posted this statement in the middle of the song)
Very sick track, kinda reminds me of Thornhill from Dark Pool era......
and jazz (posted at the end)
it's more sounds like hollywood imo
This guitar tone has a higher BMI than I do.
"That part fuckin fucks"
My new favourite quote
BEST SLEEP TOKEN SONG TO DATE
Sleep Token will take you in 8 million different directions in a song and you'll enjoy all of them.
I always recommend that people set aside any expectations when they listen to a new ST song - this is a great example of that! So great. Worship
new genre unlocked: djazz
This isn't a song
This is a taste of the Divine
It is a mind melting mind , body and spiritual experience
And by the time it's gets to that sexy AF funky jazzy
Part and Vessel delivering that

I mean every fiber of my being melted into the Earth's Core
