Holy crap, why is the advertisement so long? It could be its own video. 5 minutes plus is entirely too long for a midroll ad, no matter when its placement.

I don't get why people don't like Karl's voice. His voice is great and his delivery is great and very entertaining. I adore Simon and still watch all his channels. But Karl is awesome and I've now added his personal channel to my rotation.
People get attached to their "norm". The ironic thing is if people go all the way back to the beginning Simon had a very different style and accent, he has gone through a few metamorphoses himself so maybe they wouldn't have liked him back then 😂

@@user-do5hz6xc3p all of those from the North would disagree. It's good to have people that sound like us reading and not always have the "plum in the mouth" brigade talking to us. Don't get me wrong I love Simons shows but it's nice to have someone familiar sounding do the job and Karl isn't trying to be a David Attenborough.
p.s; go back to the very early Simon shows and you'll see he's changed his accent somewhat to suit his needs.
@@bunyipdragon9499 North is not a place it is a direction. I also live " North" and when we have very long winters with heavy snow and sub zero temperatures that pass far easier with Simon.
Yes I have heard his earlier videos and frankly they were not as good. It is simply a preference.

As I was commenting on their accents I would have thought that the obviousnesd of "up north" would be well, obvious - I'm talking of their country, in which I also was raised , up North. Simon is very much a Southerner.

For everyone who keeps asking where Simon is every episode, you have to accept the fact he moved on. Karl has his own style that I enjoy very much, and he puts in just as much energy making every episode entertaining. I hope he gets to keep on hosting!

I love Karl from his other channel, what's the price to see him on this, but pleasantly so. He did a fantastic job. We have to understand getting used to something over time creates a comfort level that we appreciate, but change also brings something new to the table that can make things exciting

It's because those outside of the UK don't get that the vast majority of us in the UK don't sound like Simon and our speech patterns vary a lot.
Every narrator has her or his style of narration. I greatly appreciated Simon's style in Biographics, but Karl, you hold your own and also do a highly commendable job! Karl, don't let a few naysayers get you down!

Eyy, Titus is an underrated (or at least overlooked) emperor, so it's good to see him get a video! If nothing else, he gets some credit on the Colosseum (or Flavian Amphitheater if you want to annoy your friends), which is probably the first thing most people think of when they think "Ancient Rome".

Continued losses to a limited pool of highly intelligent, strategically minded, and logistically gifted elites would result in the promotion instead of unsuitable candidates within leadership roles. Effectively reducing the Empire's civic, financial, and military potential.

Not only do birds have the entire sky to roam, peck the Elephant's eyes out, fly away from their trunks and do some more pecking until they drop dead of exhaustion, bleeding or just pain. How many is "some"? 10? 20? 50? Against 4 Elephants? I'm not sure it's so cut and dry and if I was into that, it would be interesting to see the birds' strategy, formations and where they would peck more. Logically lions are pack animals their strength actually lies in their numbers (even when alpha lions fight if theres a brother in the pride he will join in) tigers on the other hand are far more solitary and have to rely on themselves most of the time

Oh my! Carl (Karl?), It sounds like fans of the channel are really giving you grief! It's always hard to pick up the reins from a previous person. People just don't like change. Your voice is fine. I will say that maybe Simon has a truly spectacular voice, which probably makes matters worse, but you sound fine and can be very entertaining. I'm glad you have a sense of humor about it at least.
