I definitely have some auto buy/read authors that I don't necessarily buy or read immediately but I know in my head that it's definitely happening at some point. It's those authors you trust to deliver a feeling/style of interest and you know they'll be there for you when you need that thing!
Exactly - having those authors that you know what you're going to get & that you're going to love it is very empowering as a reader! Especially when I need to break or avoid a slump, I'm thankful to know which authors I can rely on
One of my auto-buy author's is P. J. Tracy. They are a mother/daughter team that write a series of novels centering around brilliant computer geeks and their work with the Minneapolis police department. The characters are all so interesting, the plots are intricate and there is some romance as well! The mother in this team passed away at the end of 2017 and her daughter continues to write under P. J. Tracy. After watching your channel for some time I'm thinking you might find these thrillers interesting as well. My other auto-buy authors are Deanna Raybourn, Amanda Quick, Jayne Anne Krentz, Simone St. James and Linda Howard.
My auto buy list gets bigger all the time as well. Deanna Raybourne for sure, Sabrina Flynn, Laura Joh Rowland, Ashley Gardner, Olivier Bosman, K J Charles and Peter Hoe g tho those I have to wait to be translated into English which takes years! I love Susanna Clarke but she has not written anything new in years. She has a whole shelf in my library for 2 books because I have so many editions of each one😊
My only auto buy author is John Grisham. I bought "The Firm" after seeing the movie back in the 90s and have purchased every one of his books since then. I also auto buy the trades of DC Comics's main Batman title, regardless of who the author is.
I really like this idea and it was so interesting! I have several authors whose books I auto buy or try the first one out, for example Elizabeth George, Sebastian de Castell, Kai Meyer, Donna Leon and since I'm currently reading "Magic Bites" I'm curious whether one day Ilona Andrews makes the list too :D
There's quite a lot of authors here who I haven't heard of before, or the ones I have heard of I've yet to read. You've caused me to think about who my auto-buy authors are, and I've absolutely no idea.
I so feel you on so many favorites being dead. 😂😂😂 Story of my life. Current (living) autobuy authors for me include: Sarah Moss, Tess Gerritsen, Louise Penny, Jen Campbell, and Trenton Lee Stewart.
Huh, I think my only true auto-buy/auto-read author is Matthew Reilly. I have everything he's ever published in at least one form, and don't even think about it before buying when he releases something new. As for auto-read at least the first books in their series or stand-alones, again, a lot fewer than I thought. What the hell, self? Garth Nix, Eoin Colfer, Jim Butcher, and Neil Gaiman.
It's harder to come up with than I thought! Because, yes, there are so many authors whose work I really enjoy, but there's not nearly as many who I just blindly auto-buy or auto-read
For me it's Kazuo Ishiguro, Margaret Atwood, Brandon Sanderson, Robin Hobb, Meg Cabot (nostalgia for my teens), Ilona Andrews (because of you), a Polish mystery writer Maryla Szymiczkowa (recently translated into English), Olga Tokarczuk and if the Bride Test turns out to be as good as the Kiss Quotient, Helen Hoang might join this list.
My auto-buys are Ilona Andrews, Tamora Pierce and in the past was Terry Pratchett (GNUTerry!). You may have answered this in the past, but when IA release their Innkeeper series in chapters, do you wait until the book is released or read then weekly? I haven't even tried to wait, I love the little snippets of brilliance each week.
I tried to do the weekly snippets, but when I'm in an Ilona Andrews book, I mostly want to just gobble it down as quickly as possible, so now I wait for the bind ups :)
Lol I don't have alive auto-buy authors xD But I consider some of the passed authors my auto-buy. I love them but I haven't read all of their books, so I can just buy their books impulsively
Great video! Do you have a certain version of Agatha Christie books you buy in physical format? I don't have any auto-buy authors, partly because a lot of the books I'm collecting were written by authors who are no longer living. ;) I think Riley Sager would be an auto-buy author for me.
I understand perfectly and my auto-buy author's list keep growing. J.R. Ward, Nora Roberts/J. D. Robb, Roxanne St.Claire, Christina Dodd, Christina Lauren, Dan Brown, Brad Thor, newcomer Helen Hoang, Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland are among my current regulars. There are others who have taken a break in their writing but may be coming back like Jayne Ann Krentz, Brenda Novak & Maya Bank.
I feel your pain, eight of my most read authors are dead and the two remaining ones (Stephen King and R. L. Stine purely because I was given a bunch of Goosebumps books) are both about to turn 70.
I really like this as a video idea!
Do it!! :)

"I can't buy from them bc they are dead." LOL. My auto-buy authors: Anna Freeman, Aimee Bender, Holly Black, Jesmyn Ward
Haha, a great group of ladies!
Illona Andrews top the list of my auto-by authors.. followed by Tessa Dare..

Ooo, thanks for the rec! I'll keep my eyes open for her

Yes, that's the problem -- the more wonderful authors I discover, the more that get added to the list!
Jennifer Arementrout / J Lynn is my only auto-buy author :)
My only auto buy author is John Grisham. I bought "The Firm" after seeing the movie back in the 90s and have purchased every one of his books since then. I also auto buy the trades of DC Comics's main Batman title, regardless of who the author is.
That's a good auto-buy to have. Consistent writing.
Grisham is definitely an old faithful!

Donna Leon is one I think I'm going to try once I catch up on the JD Robb series...
There's quite a lot of authors here who I haven't heard of before, or the ones I have heard of I've yet to read. You've caused me to think about who my auto-buy authors are, and I've absolutely no idea.
Hey! Here they are: Stephen King, Gillian Flynn, Dan Brown, J.K. Rowling, John Green, and Margaret Atwood.
I so feel you on so many favorites being dead. 😂😂😂 Story of my life. Current (living) autobuy authors for me include: Sarah Moss, Tess Gerritsen, Louise Penny, Jen Campbell, and Trenton Lee Stewart.
Kirsty Logan is an auto buy author for me I think :)
I only have two at the moment: Mariana Zapata and Fredrik Backman.
2 great ones!
My auto buy authors are Penny Reid, Mariana Zapata, Colleen Hoover, Sarah J Maas (I know, controversial), Brandon Sanderson, and Christina Lauren!
Haha, yes, some controversy in this list, but hey. Different tastes make the world go round!
Great video. And thanks for reminding me that Michael Lewis is an auto buy for me. I forgot about the fifth risk so I just placed my order. Thanks! 😔
Enjoy :)

@@bookslikewhoa We have dead authors covered, though! =D

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned Helen Hoang. I'm so into her current series and don't see that changing soon

@@bookslikewhoa I feel like this is a very good decision but not one I can achieve!
Zadie Smith. Auto buy, no questions asked!
Good one!!
My auto-buy authors are Edgar Cantero and C. Robert Cargill. Everyone else I love is dead or has been writing at a speed I can't keep up with.
OMG, I feel you on people producing so many books that keeping up is a challenge
Lol I don't have alive auto-buy authors xD But I consider some of the passed authors my auto-buy. I love them but I haven't read all of their books, so I can just buy their books impulsively
Hey, less urgency, same enjoyment! Win all around

I prefer the facsimile hardbacks for Christie, but I also look for the Bantam faux leather editions when I'm in a used bookstore :)
I think really my only auto buy author is Neil Gaiman.

Well.... upside is that you will soon be saving money when they kick it? :D
@@bookslikewhoa I get most of their books from charity shops anyway ;D
