By the way - You missed the silent dedication to drummer Neil Peart, who died from brain cancer in January 2020. It was a drawing of his empty drum set which appears just a moment after the light is turned out. You should see it; very touching. Peart was also the band’s lyricist, so when he died, so did any hope of the band doing another project. Peart (pronounced P-ear-T, not P-ur-T) and the other two members retired in 2015 after their 40th anniversary tour. Their rabid fan base long agitated for a reunion, prompting reporters to ask Peart’s band mates, Geddy and Alex, about the possibility. Little did we know what Peart had asked them to hide from the world - that he had been diagnosed with the same incurable and terminal cancer as Sens. Ted Kennedy and John McCain less than a year into his retirement. Peart was an intensely shy and private man, known for one of the seminal lyrics to the band’s song, Limelight: “I can’t pretend the stranger is a long awaited friend.” This video was focused on Neil’s life as a musician (which started with a failed attempt to crack the UK rock scene… hence the British stuff up front). Many of the images you see are references to one or more of their 19 studio albums, all of which were gold, platinum, or multi platinum. In fact, the only rock bands to have released more consecutive gold or platinum records were the Beatles and Rolling Stones.
All the changes in the song represents the different types of music you would hear on the radio. The hand movements Geddy was doing was to get people i the audience to clap. Three geniuses in one band! Cheers
Spirit of the Radio was my introduction to Rush. Instantly became one of the top bands i listened to as a youngster. The year, 1980. It switched between Rush and AC/DC. I didnt know was only 3 members for yrs. Was sooooo happy when they FINALLY made into the R&RHOF.
"Glittering prizes and endless compromises shatters the illusion of integrity" - Spirit of Radio Integrity is not an illusion but it could be made to look like one.
BTW!!!!!!!!!! YOU CUT OFF THE SWEETEST PART OF THE WHOLE DANG VIDEO!!!!!THE VERY END WAS THEIR RIP TRIBUTE TO THE BEST DAMN DRUMMER IN THE WORLD WHOM PAST AWAY TO BRAIN CANCER. I SPEAK FOR EVERY DIE HARD RUSH FANS OUT THERE AND NEVER CUT OFF THE VIDEO TILL ITS TRULY OVER!
Great Reaction - next stop -----> Best Live Performance RUSH - Xanadu - Live In Montreal 1981 (2021 HD Remaster 60fps) Alex Lifeson - 6 string guitar, 12 string guitar, pedal synthesizer, volume pedal; Geddy Lee - Vocals, bass guitar, 6 string guitar, foot pedal synthesizer, electric piano/synthesizer; Neil Peart - Lyrics, Drums, orchestra bells, tubular bells, wind chimes, crotales, timbales, timpani, gong, temple blocks, bell tree, triangle, and melodic cowbells. Based on Kubla Khan (Xanadu) by Samuel Taylor Coleridge Coleridge composed his poem, ‘Kubla Khan’, in a state of semi-conscious trance either in the autumn of 1797 or the spring of 1798 and published in 1816. The whole poem is pervaded by an atmosphere of dream and remains in the form of a vision. The vision embodied in Kubla Khan was inspired by the perusal of the travel book, Purchas His Pilgrimage. Coleridge had taken a dose of opium as an anodyne, and his eyes closed upon the line in the book, “At Zanadu Kubla Khan built a pleasure palace.” But this opened his creative vision, and the poem of about 200 lines was composed in this state of waking dream. On being fully awake, he wrote the poem down. The theme of the poem is unimportant. It describes the palace built by Kubla Khan, the grandson of Chengis Khan, the great rule of central Asia. czcams.com/video/2byjJkN_nVY/video.html

Geddy would "blink" his hands to the lights in the arena going off and on and we'd roar! Seen them three times, Grace Under Pressure was my first in '84 when I was just 13!😎😎
Also instead of doing the over the head hand clap, the hand puppet clap was easier and I think more fans would be inclined to do it? From west coast Canada, peace.

Tom Sawyer or Limelight, both are great songs and were very popular back in the day.
The way that the song has so many changes and transitions, it's like changing the stations on the radio as you listen to it.
Oh yeah, I can see that!
All the changes in the song represents the different types of music you would hear on the radio.
The hand movements Geddy was doing was to get people i the audience to clap.

You missed the end of the video which was very important as an homage to the 'Professor' Neil Peart, their bandmate who sadly passed away.
No like from me for them.
Sorry, but they need to watch the whole video.
In memory of our brother, Neil Peart.
It is sacrilegious to cut off any portion of a Rush video. 🍁
The best 3 man band. RIP Neil Peart!! 😢

Hey Guys, Neil Peart's (Dummer) nickname was the Professor!! I have seen RUSH in 1988 (Power Windows Tour).
"Definitely Canadian", what are you supposed to explain? Should be "Definitely Rock" or "Definitely kind of music"?
