Don't know if it's intentional but there's a myth eating mermaid will grant extended, or in some versions, eternal life... There's a making of this floating around too... There was only one glass cube, lots of digital compositing going on, and for some parts of the last supper setting they were filmed individually and composited together... It's pretty impressive. And yes, Shinya hits those china's... I've seen it. 👍
I’m late on this but loved the reaction! This is by far my favorite song by them. From the way it’s structured to the vocal transitions that altered the sound of the song entirely during the main riff. It’s just an eargasm. Got a sub from me :)

But it's so amazing to see Dir En grey fans not only appreciating the music but understanding the "Why" part. Been a fan since I heard my first song back in middle school and I'm damn near thirty. The same band members for all 20 years all with I'm sure different interest and backgrounds in music genres. It's almost never seen or done. Personally I recommend the entire album Arche which Uroko is on because I think to date it is their best work. It's everything Withering to Death was but evolved. All members having matured in their skill and this is an album where the two unsung heroes Shinya on drums and Toshiya on bass really really shine. Revelation of mankind and the live version of Behind a Vacant image. Hope y'all get to that if I haven't missed it.
Probably mentioned before with previous Dir En Grey, music videos that they remind me of Cradle Of Filth, who did all this sort of thing years ago. Still, Dir En Grey are popular and still making videos and music in this genre.
Lol, Dir En Grey and CoF are quite far apart. I think Dani is definitely overlooked in the crazy vocals department, but obviously Kyo is on a different level by being an even more versatile harsh vocalist and an infinitely better singer. Musically, CoF have mostly always been retreading established heavy and black metal ground while DEG have been all over the map throughout their career and have been growing increasingly avantgarde, progressive and experimental with their song structures. I don't think either band knows anything about the other.
@@Glynthepin He's dabbled in some smaller acting things, I think, as well as done some voice over work. His lyrics have consistently comprised some of the most impressive (if verbose) prose in the metal scene, and from what I can tell from recent live videos his voice has held up absurdly well, considering the abuse it's taken over the years. Kyo from DEG will throw in some pretty rare whistle scream techniques, but Dani's piercing high pitched screams sound like the type of thing that would wear down your voice real quick. Super impressed by his longevity.
@@omr4745 While I doubt Dir En Grey was inspired by or aware of CoF during their formative years, they were undoubtedly inspired by Western music. I love DEG and don't like nu metal, but they were definitely influenced by that scene, Korn in particular, with Kyo taking the worship to ridiculous lengths during his ADIDAS era.
This song won me over last year, never heard them before. And it is still a favorite, the pace is so good. Please do more songs of Dir en grey.
