  • Over the past forty years, the Church has seen a profound renewal in scholarship and the faith. There has been an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, inspiring a springtime for Catholic life. And no matter how dark it may seem for the Church, the Holy Spirit is ever-present. On this episode of The Road to Emmaus, Scott Hahn and Ralph Martin discuss how the Holy Spirit desires to work in the Church today.

I came into the Church at Easter Vigil in 1969 and was introduced to the Charismatic Renewal in 1973. Discovered Ralph Martin, et al shortly after and was shaped, molded and formed in Catholic orthodoxy and submitted to the Teaching Magesterium of the Roman Catholic Church wholeheartedly. Attended FIRE Rallies in Moose Jaw, Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Interviewed Ralph for Saskatoon Star Phoenix in 1993. The original copy of the article showed up on my garage floor earlier this year. Reads like it could have been written about today's Church crisis!
Thanks, Ralph, for the years of fidelity to proclaiming the message. And, Scott, for the clarion call to know scripture and the faith. It's our lifeline.
    "To whom shall we go...."
Lord have mercy as we are being led into the wilderness!

Ralph, I too came from the Charismatic Renewal. I love you 2 guys. I think the organizational Church from the top down has left early church teaching. Good teachers like yourselves are few. I think the Church will split before it ever comes back to solid teaching. Malachi Martin saw it coming 30 years ago.

I am thinking of leaving. I can't take the filth anymore and the silence of the bishops. It's been a year from the McCarrick affair. The silence is deafening. They don't want to listen to the laity even though they are born from above. I was almost a priest myself many years ago. I will only leave when the Lord tells me. Thank you for your faithfulness.

God who called you is faithful. Even st Paul is suffered from false brothers and wrong preachers like circumcison preachers. We can't stop evil inside the church.. But being responsible Catholic carryout our 3 fold mission of baptism.. rest leave to Jesus who is able to give us far more than what we even think. He will deliver the church from all the malice.
Secondly Jesus says to the Pharisees destroy this temple and I will raise it up in 3 days. He was speaking about his body. His body is also the Church ( spiritually) it's necessary that the body will go throught the destruction but God is faithful he is able to raise our mortal bodies to eternal life likewise Jesus according to His promise will rise the Church eternally....

Why 2025 ?.According to our church tradion which started in the 13th century jubliee year was announced every 25 years. Last Jubilee year was in the year 2000. Next jubliee should be in 2025. But a Special Jubilee year was announced in 2015-16. Was there a need if the end of the present era was to continue for 25 or 50 years.

Yes, Jesus established a Church. And He gave the keys to the kingdom to Peter. So, only the Church which can trace itself to Peter, and therefore to Jesus, can rightfully claim that it is the Church established by Christ. And it is undisputed that only the Catholic Church can trace itself to Peter and therefore to its founder, Jesus Christ.
(From St. Peter to Pope Francis)
      2 Peter 1:20
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
No man is allowed to make his own interpretation of the Scriptures. Only the Church (Jesus’ has founded which is the Catholic Church) has the authority to do so.
      The Catholic Church has these:
Matthew 16:18-19 - “And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
      1) Peter is the rock. Christ’s Church is built upon Peter. The “gates of hades” will not prevail against Christ’s Church. Therefore, the “gates of hades” will not prevail against Peter.
      2) In verse 19, we have a theological axiom. Whatever Peter ratifies on Earth will have heavenly authority. Since heaven cannot bind an error or loose someone from following the will of God, Peter’s declarations must be infallible
      3) Luke 22:29-32 - Christ prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail and that he would confirm his brethren. The office of Peter, therefore, holds the faith inviolate.
      4) John 21:17 - Christ makes Peter shepherd of his Church. Therefore, his teachings (and those of his office) cannot err because Christ’s Church cannot err.
      5) 1 Timothy 3:15 - The Church is the pillar and foundation of truth.

@@user-bt1zp9no5o you are mis quoting scripture sadly. Peter denied Jesus three. times don't forget and only Christ is the only Rock we need. The first church was called the Way the names 'Catholic' and 'Protestant' are not in the Bible, but rather Christian. No person is infallible or without sin not even Peter whose successor you follow instead of God. Only Christ was without sin and infallible no man on earth not even the Pope is perfect as no man is and at the end of the day he is only a man with feet of clay like the rest of mankind. We can interpret the Bible for ourselves but our Bible studies are led or guided by an ordained minister at our Evangelical church. Peter is not the Rock but Christ your priests have mis interpreted that unfortunately. Peter means little stone hardly a rock.

@@user-bt1zp9no5o I said our Bible study is led and guided by an ordained minister of our Evangelical church, but we do read our passage at home and do research on it and then do a question and answer session. We do interpret the Bible to a certain extent. No the word Trinity is not in the Bible, but we serve a three personed God and that is where the word Trinity comes from.
