Pedestrians and buildings also get hit, but the point is it's highly unlikely, compared to when driving. You'd be at more risk on a bench next to a road. Additionally, compared to sitting on a bench, walking, or any other possibility, you're in a metal shell with crumple zones and airbags, that isn't moving.
