In St Pete, FL our officials just fell for another massive stadium deal instead of for social housing. This should be required to watch for all public officials.
They should be focused on St. Pete’s lack of affordable housing & sewage/draining issues. It’s a cool city but I avoid going to concerts in the city center bc it smells like an open sewer. Stinky Pete.

Will I agree with the owners needing to pay for more. I don't think you should've included the Titans stadium in this. The old stadium had to be maintained by the city and was neglected. It needed roughly 1.5 billion in renovations. Now, the city is paying 750 million, which will be brought in by a 1% hotel tax increase in Nashville. The owner has also put up roughly 400 million in her own money to pay for the new stadium.

They should be publicly funded. Funded when the public buys tickets. If your ticket sales don’t cover the cost of the stadium you’re doing something wrong.

I think this is one of the very few things both conservatives and liberals agree on. These new stadiums shouldn’t be funded by the taxpayers. This is a private business and should be funded privately.
At least there is something good about being a Cowboys fan.

An interesting video with some very valid points. However the "old white guy" as the dominant demographic of sports fans is false. Also, it is true that on game day local businesses do suffer due to 4 plus hour long events, however the time surrounding those events, traffic through cities is greatly boosted, leading to more business in cities. This also doesnt account for other revenue that teams bring in, such as merch and brand affiliates, that they also pay to the city or state. Does there need to be a change in how we view and fund stadiums, yes... but a more wholistic view needs to be taken before and during putting out a one-sided video, potentially creating a false narrative
I do agree with this video but there are some major issues. 9:50 if Chicago got rid of all of those sports teams people would leave. That’s a sizable chunk of the economy that disappears and isn’t redistributed.
