As a Cypriot, I agree with you! The song is not strong by itself and heavily relies on what Silia will do on the stage. I guess it's a pure pop song but I hoped for something that sounded more modern and/or unique. I do really like Silia though, she's not just a Tiktok girlie, she's a professional dancer and she said she's been running on the treadmill to get her stamina up! Despite her young age, I think I trust her

For me, Poland, UK, Cyprus, Luxembourg are all in a similar "standard pop" song group.. Luxembourg for me is a bit in front since it is in French at least and I like that cascading bit a lot. Alesia, I completely agree with you! And I may add that the issue isn't just the song itself. Sure, it's a generic pop flop, but the real problem lies beneath the surface. I am referring to the composer, Dimitris Kontopoulos who despite the fact that he was convicted of plagiarism by the Greek Supreme Court in 2023 , and Greece rejected the same song of his (LIAR) that year, a song that was originally written for Russia in 2021... he persists in sending it through another country this year!

Ireland is definitely in trouble, the mainstream audience wont go for it like the fandom does. Being divisive isn't always bad but being TOO divisive can make it a different question. Cyprus on the other hand is basic as people say but in a good way. In the Blanka last year kind of way but a better song. Its easy to say who will qualify but I always want to ask the more important question, which 6 songs will the mainstream audience not go for as much? If you cant say 6 songs with absolute certainty then they are obviously in that risk zone. Remember for example that Luke Black only JUST qualified last year, this is more of a risk entry. There is an audience for this kind of dark artsy music but its a relatively small audience. Sometimes you can convince a mainstream audience but I find it hard to believe that this is the kind of song for that. It is getting kind of stacked in the 1st semifinal.. Ukraine, Croatia are obviously safe qualifiers in the 1st half, Cyprus now too I would say and Serbia could absolutely be a safe one too if they send the right song, a lot of people also seemingly love Lithuania.. In the 2nd half Slovenia are safe for me, very likely Finland too (unfortunately, I hate everything).. Iceland is safe because we almost know who will win there. Australia and Azerbaijan often serve quality but for the sake of it lets say 1 of them makes it (even though both could probably qualify). That puts us at 9 qualified songs and leaves us with contenders like Luxembourg and Moldova who lets face it, could easily qualify if they have a glow up at Eurovision + a Portugal that have a lot of interesting options in their selection but I'm not as sure who they will go for. A lot of people might disagree but I don't see Poland making it. The song just isn't made for Eurovision

I enjoy this, and I think it benefits from being in a more ~alternative~/musically diverse Eurovision year. If there's things certain in life, it's death, taxes, and Cyprus sending a dated pop song to Eurovision. But it works for them! They qualify and end up mid-table for the most part. I feel like they built up to and then hit the pop jackpot with Fuego (which was perfect, ngl) and will hammer at that strategy well past when it works for them and this song clearly is no different.
And it's a shame Andromache's Ela, the one pop song that I thought had something interesting and unique from them with local flair, not qualifying I think set back any hope of getting something different from them for a while.

@@MrNixtt Staging doesn't really matter if you don't like the song whatsoever

@@MrNixtt the song is still worth at least 60% of the total package. At least. There’s no staging in the world that would change my mind.

@@paulmartin1532 Staging plays very important role. How many times in the recent years we had "wow" songs and once the rehearsal's started flob hard and some so-so songs with a killer staging got elevated.

This will likely look great on stage and be a deserved Q if she delivers. And simultaneously, it's one of my least favourite songs this year.

Staging will carry it but I really don't like the musical direction Cyprus is going in for ESC. For me this is the weakest girlbop this year and by far the worst girlbop that Cyprus has sent these last few years. Song has some arrangement issues which shows up with the extremely short chorus and the lyrics are just so badly written.

I just can not stand the lyrics, it‘s just too cheesy for me, also it sounds a bit dated 😬 Compared to this Loop and Fighter are much stronger I think

That’s because the composer is the master of dated songs 😂 Stefania-Last dance (Greece 2021), Demy-This is love (Greece 2017), Aysel- X my heart (Azerbaijan 2018), both of Sergey Lazarev’s songs (sorry but imo they were not good, the only reason they did so well was because of the singer’s voice), Sakis Rouvas- This is our night (Greece 2009) and so much more.. The only song of his that I liked was Ani Lorak’s Shady Lady but it was indeed 2008..
