  • I rebuilt this guitar for the Elmore Family. Check the suggested videos at the end of the video to see them play. It was totally trashed and sanded down when I got it. It wasn't even able to hold string tension without falling apart. It required coming totally apart and getting an entire new set of late 1940's Gibson J-45 style bracing to replace the broken, busted and faulty designed late 1950's bracing that had totally failed and fallen apart. Top and back were busted in many ways that required splicing in new spruce and lots of cleats. The goal isn't to make it look like a new Gibson, but to make it playable and leave it looking like what it is, a 60+ year old guitar that has lived a hard life. Now this guitar sounds and plays better than it maybe ever has and will faithfully serve future generations of musicians. Note, every repair I did is reversible if ever needed in the distant future.
