  • Here I have made a wooden dummy out of 2" x 4" spruce. This dummy is portable and can be carried anywhere in parts. The dummy can be built with basic carpentry knowledge and tools.

    Very creative! My Dad and I made a wooden dummy out of our tree we had in the front yard when we had to cut it down. Took a while and it's definitely not as portable, the thing is heavy but it was fun. The leg and arms were made out of branches, we drilled the holes and had to use a file to make it square, sanded and stained everything too

    That's beautiful. I would add one or two latches to keep the top half from separating from the bottom half, especially as the wood wears over time.

    Hello, this is actually a perfect all around thing to do. This is so super Wing Chung. It's like a Jedi making their own light saber. The control level would be through the atmosphere to practice on a low impact Jong. It's not that it's not stable it's perfect to learn and master the moves! Siu Lim Tao is slow and smooth for the same reason. This would increase the rate of precision and accuracy with control of coordination much faster IMHO. I few ratchet tow straps can hold the joints and the extensions could be an inch longer. The hard wood could be substituted as can be afforded or available. Yes, I have been thinking of building one for the whole Jedi reason. I would have build more than one because you always can improve the first build.

    This is awesome, Sir! At 0:54 it looks like you have an insert in the body of the 2x4’s. Can you tell me what that is, and, or, what the internal diameter of the dummy ended up being?

    • @RayRayHandyman
      @RayRayHandyman  Před rokem +2

      Good eye! There is a metal sheet that I've rolled up and inserted into the body of the dummy. It's held up by screws that I've screwed outwards into the 2x4's from the inside. The inner diameter is 7.5"

    Great job there. But my question to you is why did you use the saws and such to cut the wood? When you clearly could have just used your hands ✋

    • @RayRayHandyman
      @RayRayHandyman  Před 3 lety

      It is because the post was made by 8 peices of 1.5×3.5 inch wood and cut 22.5 degree to glue it together as a octagonal, then plane it to be a circle post. Not accurately if cut by hand. Thanks for visiting.

    Mmm U train with the dummy like it's made of paper instead of hard wood. As the traning progress, a Practicer has be a little forceful & direct as if the student or master is fighting an actual person. Being "gentle "on the dummy is being "gentle "2 child by comparison & robbs U of natural functions that will be required in a actual fight

  • @taramneuss9129

    Sorry man.....this is in so many things wrong..
    First of all it needs to be adjustable in height.....to that person ....so taller person....it sets up little bit higher.....shorter guy....a little lower....
    The arms and the leg need to be in one setting to be in the same height.... parallel....so that you train right and left in the same way....
    The body needs to be trained equal in both sides.....the arms need to be also to be able to be set turned high and low position of the upper two arms......for different exercises...like bong position and Fook Sao position.....
    Then the dummy as a whole....needs to have give in all directions side to side and back and forth......to simulate the body movement of a person when the hit impacts the body....
    And the arms need to have some give by themselves....so they move a bit and give you a feedback impulse by which you react to...
    Stiff arms no impulse.
