  • This overdrive, which is based on the preamp of a film projector, is great in everything it does... just watch and listen!

    Sold my Jan Ray and went with the 385. I kept thinking no this can’t be true, but I just enjoyed the 385 dynamics and varied clean tones, to mild to crazy fuzz like fun.

    Those of you that are saying it’s thin sounding obviously aren’t dialing it in right. I’m using it to boost my Marshall DSL and my guitar tone is CHUNK CITY.

    As much as I like Andterons videos for their entertainment value these videos are the best for gear demonstrations, both in sound quality and knowledge of presenter. Great Job.

    It's definitely a tone pedal. Angus Young of AC/DC uses the projector circuit in his tone path on those old Marshall Plexi amps of his. I still use the original 1970's solid state Echoplex. This is a great sounding pedal. I will have one....great harmonics.

    i own one of these and i use it mainly as a rhythm pedal, but can do lead. i think its a great pedal

    I like songs in 6/8 :) nice playing. I usually don't like to listen to guitar players soloing and don't care about all that "guitar hero" stuff, but Hennings playing is just musical and tasteful.

    Im so bored of overdrives and distortion pedals. Its nice to see someone trying something a bit different in that realm. To be honest Im burnt out on all pedals by now...

    I actually like the 9V connector to be on the pcb caus it allows you to get the plug just that much deeper and can free up some space thatw ay.

    I feel like if you stack an OD pedal before it, it will sound like a fuzz

    Hey.thanks for the time and information put in the video.
    Could you help me with the differences or similarities between the voyager, the 385, and the jhs superbolt?
    Can't decide...
    Thanks

    Was that mode like mixolydian b13 or something like it? "G major to c minor, analyze that harmonically"

    This guitar is not available for twothousand-something, Henning (maybe for you but not for us!).
    It's actually a bit more than 3100 Euro

    • @DerEchteBold

      It's a 'Teambuilt Idolmaker 5R', right?!
      In the Warwick shop the price tag says 3117,53 €
      Thomann doesn't seem to have it in stock yet.

      @DerEchteBold Před 7 lety

      I also found a US price list where this exact model is tagged with:
      Retail - 4399.00 $, Map - 3269.00 $
      I'm not sure what that means, is the lower figure the buying price for the dealer and the other one just the 'recommended retail price'?

    • @Todesnuss
      @Todesnuss Před 7 lety

      MAP is the minimum advertised price and as such what it will usually go for.

    Great video. The projector (well sound portion of a projector) it's based off of is the Bell & Howel Filmosound 385. There is a cool video with Tim Pierce and Pete Thorn where they discuss it: czcams.com/video/zi52VLZ5nV0/video.htmlm

    Like most who watch these videos, we have accumulated enough overdrives and fuzzes to open a store. Before I impulse buy ANY pedal especially those types 1st take out a bunch of the ones you have collecting dust and start turning knobs. 90% of the time you can NAIL whatever it is being demoed. This is basically a cheap, thin ts9 clone with no body being marketed as hip and retro.

    • @MoncoField
      @MoncoField Před rokem +1

      Although i agree with you about most OD pedals sounding pretty similar. You are dead wrong about this pedal, and everything stated in this video is spot-on

  • @richmonksgtr
    @richmonksgtr Před 7 lety +2

    Most over hyped drive of recent years. Papery and thin. Even an EHX Crayon sounds better and more versatile. "It's based on a movie projector!"
    Because that's what we all strive for? Blech. I don't even hate this pedal. Just that Walrus KEEPS trying to jam it down our throats.

    • @nostalgiajunkie

      Rich Monks this wasn’t even hyped, it just had a backstory. Did you ever even use one lmao big difference between using it in your rig and hearing it through a vid

    • @clayteasouth

      This drive is amazing and deserves a go in real life and not just CZcams browsing for tones.
