One of the most underrated all around players, song writers & producers of all time, his work on U2 & Emmylou Harris's albums is just absolute perfection He basically defined U2's "sound" & his work with Emmylou on Red Dirt Girl & Wrecking Ball still gives me chills. His influence brought a spritual depth to both of there songs that made them trancend thier fixed genres.
Don't forget about his work with Bob Dylan, I believe he produced Oh Mercy & Time Out of Mind. Lanois makes everybody sound better, kinda like Emmylou makes everybody sound better when she collaborates (sings) with them!!
Awesome performance... I love the authority in doing it this way, and making it sound like it's the original... or maybe it was like this originally? Also great harmonies... And I feel incredible nostalgia for those mid-2000 years... the basement in Sydney was like an institution for these kind of gigs. I can't believe the place is gone. And those times were something special as a sound guy, because a venue like this would only have a very simple analog desk and a few graphics. A couple of compressors, a reverb, delay, but not much more... I never thought those days would end, but they have.

hate to say it but U2 copied Daniels Lanois sound so obvious when he plays,it sounds like U2
I´m sorry to say, but i think the production credits on "Red dirt girl" goes to Malcolm Burn. But still a great album
lars-weiss-films wrecking ball was good one with him and Emmylou Harris
