In fact, Bach even adapted Vivaldi's concerto for four violins and orchestra for four harpsichords and orchestra [BWV1065].
This concerto for organ solo was arranged by André Isoir (1935-2016).
After Vivaldi's death, his manuscripts were scattered and divided between different owners.
It wasn't until around 1920 that Alberto Gentili was able to reunite the manuscripts and begin the victorious triumph of Vivaldi as a gifted composer.
Prior to this, Vivaldi had only been known for his violin concertos.
Despite the hasty nature in which Vivaldi seemed to have entrusted his music notes to the paper, around 2000, Alberto Basso initiated the "Vivaldi Edition" project to catalog and publish hundreds of his manuscripts.

J.S.BACH bewonderde de muzikale verbeelding van Vivaldi en bestudeerde zijn partituren en verrijkte er zijn muzikale inzichten mee.
Dat bewijst Bach's bewerking van Vivaldi's concert voor vier violen en orkest voor vier klavecimbels en orkest [BWV1065].
Op zijn beurt bewerkte A. Isoir (1935-2016) dit concerto voor orgelsolo.
Na de dood van Vivaldi (1678-1741) lieten zijn schuldeisers zijn Venetiaanse woning verzegelen.
De broer van Vivaldi had gelukkig de handschriften weggehaald.
Een graaf kocht de werken later en diens nazaat verdeelde later de werken tussen zijn twee zoons. De ene zoon gaf de handschriften aan de lokale abdij.
30 jaar later herinnerde de abt zich deze schenking en rond 1920 kwam de musicoloog Alberto Gentili er naar kijken.
De andere helft van de manuscripten ontdekte Gentile in Genua en hij herenigde deze manuscripten.
Zo begon de zegetocht van Vivaldi, die tot dan toe alleen bekend was door zijn vioolconcerten.
De noten lijken in haast aan het papier te zijn toevertrouwd.
Vivaldi noteert aan het slot van zijn drie (!) uur durende opera 'Tito Manlio:
"Voltooid in vijf dagen".
Rond 2000 nam musicoloog Alberto Basso het initiatief tot de ' Vivaldi Edition' .
Een project dat ervoor zorgt dat de honderden manuscripten worden gecatalogiseerd en gepubliceerd.

1829 oplevering door Nicolaus Anthonie Lohman (1766-1835).
1835, opvolger zoon Gerhard Willem (overleden 1856) doet het onderhoud.
1856 kleinzoon, Nicolaas Anthonie Gerhardus Lohman (1834-1871) doet onderhoud.
1867 de oude kerk te Farmsum wordt vervangen.
Petrus van Oeckelen (1792-1878) demonteert het orgel en bouwt het in de nieuwe kerk op met een uitbreiding van een vrij pedaal met acht registers.
1870 ingebruikname nieuwe kerk en het uitgebreide orgel.
In 1880 is er “orgelmakerswerk” aan het orgel.
In 1894, Jan Doornbos, onderhoud.
Vanaf 1949 onderhoud, Mense Ruiter, die in 1953 een gedeeltelijke restauratie uitvoerde.
In 1966 Klaas Bolt restauratie-rapport.
Tijdens de restauratie krijgt het orgel een originele Lohman Flageolet uit 1816, die overbodig was geworden bij de reconstructie van het Martiniorgel te Groningen.
Aan het Hoofdwerk kon een extra stem worden toegevoegd: een originele 3 sterke Lohman Cornet uit 1810, die tot 1968 dienst had gedaan in het Schnitgerorgel te Nieuw-Scheemda.
Mense Ruiter plaatse de Quint 6 voet terug die in 1953 was verwijderd.
Op verzoek van de orgelcommissie werd voor het Hoofdwerk een nieuwe opliggende Tremulant gemaakt.

I believe that Vivaldi could write this concert for violin or harpsicord or another instrument perfectly but Bach captured that magic and shared it on his own... Masters!!!!!!!

I played this concerto both on the organ and as part of a 4-violin ensemble. I would like to say that this is a flawless interpretation, but at the end of the second part I played a major chord. It looked more canonical and advantageous

Wonderfully balanced and delicate performance.
A great example and reminder of the fact, that baroque music does not require off-your-head fast tempos to be enjoyed. There is so much intricate detail and beauty which would get lost being played at break-neck speed. Thanks for another wonderful recording. Much appreciated!

Lovely, really lovely! It's so delicate compared to the Vivaldi for strings and the Bach for harpsichord. This is one of my all-time favorite concertos. Beautiful old instrument! The masterful performance makes this video a delight! I always like to see the musician(s) performing. Great views of your hands and feet. How one plays with hands and feet has always mystified me! Prachtig ! The organ sounds especially well suited for that music, with the upper keyboard having a balance between bass & trebble, continuo and solo, allowing both parts to be played on the same keyboard (thumbs up to the organ builder). Performance is also very nice (including that of your assistant - your wife?) with that quiet assurance that makes it to believe it is super easy - despite being probably not that straightforward... Dank U !

Thank you Willem. I love the clarity and tempo. Once again, you use technique fitting for this particular organ and its auditorium. I never tire of listening to BWV 1065. There's a certain energy infused with beauty indescribable. Did Bach and Vivaldi have conversations with God when writing this???

Mooi Willem! Evenwichtig en subtiel gespeeld, en het orgel van Farmsum had toch al een ereplaatsje bij mij. Die warmte in combinatie met brilliance in het positief! Misschien wel het meest zuidelijke orgel van het noorden :-)

It's true that Vivaldi's music is thoroughly modern. You've proven it. Your performance of the second part is simply cosmic, the sound is a perfect match for the "Interstellar" movie. This part (largo) is made on the organ, but nothing points to this instrument. The ingenious choice of voices and your wonderful technique has finally enlivened this fragment, which is boring in the performances of other artists. I cannot break away from this music. Gratulations!

In the first part you are right in a way. I did not want to use the mixture because this mixture needs a 16 foot Foundation
First movement seems too slow. And it seems to be taking "too long."
In my opinion this is a matter of taste.
We won't know what the perfect tempo is from the time of the composition.
People traveled in the Baroque time by horse, carriage and barge. I am happy with this recording.
