  • Our Tetsubin kettle features a modern, elegant design with a curved edge around the lid for no spillage. Handcrafted by Japanese artisans with a 900-year history of ironwork, this kettle features a porcelain enamel interior for a glass-like finish that aids in heat retention. The iron naturally interacts with the water, further enhancing the flavor of your tea. The kettle is rust-resistant and with proper care, they can be passed down to the next generation.

How to Brew Sencha with a Tetsubin
    1. Fill tetsubin with fresh, filtered water. Place directly on the stove to boil.
    2. Pour water into cups to warm the cup and cool down the water. You can also use a yuzamashi water cooler.
    3. Pour water over tea leaves. Recommended water temperature for this Sencha is 176°F (80°C). It typically takes 1 minute to cool to ideal temperature. The flavor will be lighter and sweeter when brewed at lower water temperatures such as 158°F (70°C). Try different brew times and temperatures to find your preference.
    4. Steep for 1-2 minutes. All of our teas can be steeped up to 3 times.
