  • In this next instalment of our Making Jeans series we test all of our fabrics by popping samples in the wash! Washing your fabrics can change the colour, texture and size of your denim. It's important to remember that your fabric may shrink and change before you make your jeans, and continue to change after your have made them.
Coming soon in the series, we'll cover what jeans patterns are available for the home sewer.
Once we run through all of this information we are going to pick a couple of patterns and fabric each and make our own jeans. Follow us along the way on CZcams and over on Instagram.
All the fabrics we talk about have been sent to us by Minerva.com (tidd.ly/3GiybwQ), they have an excellent choice of denims at www.minerva.com. (Some links are affiliate links)
All of the fabrics are listed below and can also be found over on our blog. These are not listed in the order mentioned in the video but everything is listed here.

🇨🇦😃 this series has been one of my favourites because I have developed an obsession with making myself stretch jeans and have been hunting down denim in every colour I can to make them with lol

So, what about denim I paid a premium price for, that gets stiffer and stiffer in the wash, developing its own lines as I dry it, sold as 10.5 oz premium denim. I plan to soak it in Coke as a desperate measure to make this 3 yard piece useable. It was purchased in the US from a store you would recognize as a treat to myself. While I’ll never shop there again, it has been a huge disappointment and was wondering if there was anything I could do to soften this up. Thanks for everything! Super interesting. None of your denims have washed as badly as mine has.

Thats tricky. Did you contact the store after you bought it? There are various recommendations on google about washing with vinegar, washing with tennis shows in the wash, with bleach or with coke as you say. It does sound like the fabric is faulty though tbh.

Is this fabric sold in the USA?
