Horus. I think that all of us have heard the name of this ancient Egyptian god at least once and seen one of the thousands of his falcon representations. But do you know what Horus has to do with the Great Sphinx of Giza? When did the ancients start worshiping Horus? Why did Horus symbolize kingship?
I will answer these questions in today's podcast. We will also learn more about the mythological origin of Horus and hear an amazing story describing his struggle for power included in the Osirian myth. Join me on an incredible journey through Egyptian history and mythology.
Due to the fact it is a calm podcast, I recommend listening to it to sleep as a bedtime story for grown-ups. :)

Thank you Irena for another amazing podcast! I'm catching up with this amazing podcast series and I love them!! ♥
It's fabolous how the figure of Horus along with the Osiris vs Seth myth, could be traced probably in the predynastic stage of the Egyptian History.
And is even more amazing the fact that how this Horus story, that was used to legitimate the lineage of the rulers of the Ancient Egypt, influenced so many religious fuigures with their similarities and paralels.
Thanks again for your work Irena, You did an insane research job as allways, and I think that your voice is amazing for this Podcast format!! ♥

    Thank you, Irena 😊
As always throughout history, humans have excelled at inventing myths to serve the rulership of the victors. And complicate things trying to accommodate ancient cultural elements to legitimate their usurpation. Hence, the aberrations.
    1. Gods do not get resurrected because gods don’t die.
    2. All gods and goddesses live by Maat Who would have punished Osiris for raping Nephtis who was Seth’s wife.
    3. Anubis who was the product of that rape would not have embalmed the body of his biological father (so to speak).
    4. Nobody seems to pay much attention to the fact that Isis did not find Osiris’ penis.
😄 No. I believe that things are much simpler.
In the beginning and ever since, as well as for all eternity, there are two primordial Ones- Apep, the undifferentiated substance of everything, underpinning all Creation, and His wife, Maat, The Order that makes life possible.
Their children are Mother (Mut) who takes after Her Mother Maat and Seth who takes after His Father Apep.
*As a side note- Mut was known to the followers of Horus as Hathor (name which means ‘the house/ womb of Horus’). Isis in the Ancient Egyptians’ conception was one of Hathor’s manifestations (Isis, Mother of Horus = Hathor, Womb of Horus)*
In order to maintain the balance, Mut and Seth have a son and a daughter. Their son is Sobek, the crocodile god. I believe that their daughter is the real Isis as the archetype of female ruler of human world. By the way, ‘messiah’ means ‘the anointed’ because the Ancient Egyptian kings and queens were anointed with crocodile fat (in Ancient Egyptian the word for ‘crocodile’ was ‘msh’). Isis and Sobek rightfully rule.
    There are no birds.
Apep-Seth-Sobek are the manifestations of the masculine principle and Maat-Mut-Isis are the manifestations of the feminine principle.
To the ones who would object to the masculine principle being seen as chaotic, unpredictable, and violent I strongly recommend to reflect upon the disasters ‘achieved’ by the supremacy of masculinity. The structure Maat-Mut- Isis is the feminine, the mother who organises and runs the whole household.
    Earth is under new management.

you left out the part in the story of Set and the Widowed woman who had her Herd taken by a stranger, that she was a Goddess in disguise and proved Set was a Hypocrite and a womanizer, she questions him at the end and says why would you take the rightful throne of your nephew Heru if you really believe that the stranger doesn't deserve to take the herd that is not rightfully his from the widows son.

A bird is an image of the soul, images of birds, bird people, lion-birds and so on are often found in the symbolism of rebirth.
The Mediterranean falcon shows the time of rebirth, in these birds the time of the birth of chicks coincides with the time of the new birth of the soul of Osiris.
