  • While upliftment programmes and service delivery ramp up all along Chatsworth, many of the most underprivileged, destitute communities are left to fend for themselves and fight for the same treatment.
Home to dozens of residents, the road in question, Elizabeth Nomakodite Mnkono Street, was only given a name two years ago.
Rowayne Govender, a resident on the road, spoke to the Rising Sun about the plights those who live on the road face.
According to a long-time resident, Semone Bramdow, to this day when they log in electricity or water faults, they cannot get the required service as they cannot be located due to a lack of proper physical or postal addresses.
She explained that recently, a family living up the road had a funeral, and had to arrange for a bakkie to take the casket up to the home, and then back down to be taken to the crematorium. Her hope is that councillors and the municipality finally answer their cries for help.
