  • Driving a Formula Palmer Audi single seat racing car around Brands Hatch indy circuit. The car was limited to 4000rpm and reached a top speed of about 90mph. Managed a best lap of 1:04.891s but encountered traffic. Great fun aside from the traffic all the time and then I had an issue when changing down into third and had to stop on track with 40 seconds left on the clock.

    I remember when I did a similar experience in 2010, I was frustrated with being told the engine was limited to only 4,000 RPM. When on the track though, I discovered that the engine would rev beyond 4,000 RPM, but the vibration would increase because of the 4 cylinders the engines have, one would stop firing after 4,000 RPM.
    I am totally with you on the enjoyment of this experience, however, with me, embarrassingly, at the very end of my run, I spun off at the last corner, Clearways, and stalled the engine. I used the down hill gradient to coast back into the pitlane, but I couldn't work out how to restart it, it wouldn't bump start the engine. Even with that though, I still had a broad grin on my face afterwards :)

    Wow! You have patience my friend.
    I would be thoroughly disappointed if I was stuck behind anyone for even a quarter of a lap after paying over 200£.

    Nice driving, once you had a clear road. I'm looking to do the same experience. Shame you had gearbox problems at the end!

    Do they discourage you from outbraking/overtaking others?

    • @andrikd24
      @andrikd24  Před 7 lety +4

      The rules for overtaking were you could only overtake on the left hand side of the other car and only on the main and back straights, nowhere else. I don't think they would be happy at all if you tried to out brake someone im afraid!

    Is it a manual clutch or an automatic one?

    • @andrikd24
      @andrikd24  Před 8 lety +1

      +Mahmoud Badreddine it's a four speed manual gearbox. I think Brands Hatch have actually changed the car to a F4 car that has a sequential gearbox.

    did they have a camera to record the experience on each car or do you have to bring your own? cheers

      I had to bring my own camera, I used a GoPro mounted on a suction cup. They wont allow cameras mounted on helmets in the single seater

      andrikd24 thanks alot just wondering can you go fast as you want and overtake on the bends

    • @andrikd24
      @andrikd24  Před 7 lety

      You can pretty much go as fast as you want within means, at 11:45 in the video I got shown a slow down board so they will take action if you're going too quickly. Definitely no overtaking in the bends, they will end your session immediately. You can only overtake on two straights and to the left of the other car.

    That looks so frustrating - you spend so much time stuck behind slower drivers, you're not getting much chance to really push the car. Hmm, have been thinking about trying one of these experiences but not sure now!

      Was quite frustrating, we were told about blue flags but people ignored them. Would be a lot better if people played ball but still good fun!

      Now that Brands has changed to a newer single seater, the experience is now £229. It still seems to be 15 minutes in an M4 and then 15 minutes in the new F4 single seater. www.msvdrivinggifts.com/experience/f4-master.aspx
