  • I filmed this little video to explain how I build a electric mini motorcycle, from kx65 frame and a custom kx65 hub motor kit.

    They look like they just stick to the pavement pretty nice

    If you moved the speed controller under the subframe you'd have more room for a larger battery

      You are not wrong for sure! I did that on a couple of my other builds

    Hello I saw your wonderful video. How many amps is the breaker you are connecting from your battery pack?
    Did you use the 48V breaker for the 72V battery?

    • @leitian7328
      @leitian7328  Před rokem

      Hi, the breaker is a 300A breaker -- but it’s rated at a lower voltage so it’s not perfect, it’s kinda difficult to find a good breaker at a reason price….

    Hey man, i want to ask what would you chose for stunt and city rideing with a pitbike like this converted to electric between hub and mid drive motor? i mean i know that a hub motor is 20kg and i don't know how that could efect the stunt part because it would be much heavyer in the back but it would help with more room for battery pack to fit in the frame and it would have more range, but i want to know what you would chose and wich one is better for stunt and city rideing

    • @leitian7328
      @leitian7328  Před rokem

      Yeah you summarized pretty well --- if you do steppes, bunny hops, jumps, burnout drifts etc. etc., having a mid drive will provide you with the right handling characteristics. You do lose a bunch of space with mid drive, so it is harder to package the battery pack.
      If I gonna do a stunt bike, I'd say doing mid drive is the right way to go

    Hi there, is the kit available anywhere else than Facebook marketplace? Also what KX65 model year would you recommend best for this sort of conversion?

    • @leitian7328
      @leitian7328  Před 2 lety

      Hi, I live in the bay area (San Jose). Contact me and you can pick up in Norcal or Socal. The KX65’s throughout the years are basically the same, with pre-02 having shorter forks and shorter swingarm. I built both, I don’t think there is really that much a difference. If you are set on a mini motard usage tho, then you can put pre-02 forks on there, for the shorter length

    Hi, what are the specifications of the hub motor? Great build btw

    • @leitian7328
      @leitian7328  Před 2 lety +3

      It’s a custom hub motor from QS motor. Nominal rating is 72v 2000W. I was pushing 72v 100A through it with no issues whatsoever.

    • @gamingprotocol8871
      @gamingprotocol8871 Před rokem

      @@leitian7328 what parameters u set for this motor in fardrive controller to push 100a? I have votol controller with this same qs 2000w motor i would like to do that as urs.

    • @leitian7328
      @leitian7328  Před rokem

      Usually the app for the controller has a setting like “current limit” or something. Just set that to 100A and you’re set

  • @bigpowerhouse11
    @bigpowerhouse11 Před 2 lety

    Do you think the KX65 could handle QS motors 12" 5000W 72V motor? Or what about their 12" 3000W 72V motor?

    • @leitian7328
      @leitian7328  Před 2 lety

      That’s a tricky question. The swingarm itself is quite beefy, so I think the mechanical structure might be fine. However, those motors won’t be a direct fit (like mine), so you’d have to modify the swingarm extensively, especially if you want a rear brake.

    • @leitian7328
      @leitian7328  Před 2 lety

      So during the modifications-- e.g. if you cut the swingarm a lot, or weld extension tubes, the structure integrity might compromise, then it might or might not handle it any more

    Could this work on other bikes?

    • @leitian7328
      @leitian7328  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, the general principles apply. But the hub motor dimensions will bolt on only to a kx65 swingarm; it’s not a direct bolt on for any other bikes, since each bike’s swingarm design is a little different

    • @roodick85
      @roodick85 Před 2 lety

      Yes they usually have similar drop outs for the wheel. I think 170mm
