  • Extracts from a studio recording of "You and Me" a pre-school series which had several incarnations, this one with puppets Cosmo and Dibs. Includes fluffs and retakes. Recorded in October 1984. Although probably noone in the audience knew it, it was made by the Schools Department at the BBC rather than the Children's Department.

    it makes me laugh how they still continue the puppettry even when they mess up. "I'm sorry" "It's all right Gary"
    The way they just open their mouths and just look at the screen makes me crack up.
    I love things like this, I'd love to see more! Retakes and humorous mistakes!

    I always love seeing bloopers from children's TV shows because they often involve the actors breaking character and swearing - something you'd definitely NOT expect to see on a children's show!

    I also remember the UB40 theme very well and most of the presenters, who included Liz Smith and Mike Grady (Barry in Last of the Summer Wine). I always remember the sections with Henry the Kangaroo looking for the signs in his book, and talking to the girl called Ellie. There was one episode where the kangaroo went to the girl's house and had tea with her.

    • @NICKY752
      @NICKY752 Před 9 lety

      UB40 did not write the theme tune to You and me they just re made it. t is the same words and music used in the original 70's version of the show .

    Schools Department - makes sense. That explains why we sometimes got to watch this at school, even though I thought of it as a kids' entertainment programme! (It was one of the "quarter-to-twos", as we called them, the BBC's pre-school programming... as opposed to the "twelve o'clocks" which were on ITV.)

    Nah it's Jeni Barnett.
    She doesn't look like that any more. She's whaled out.
    She regularly appears on tat during daytime TV like Loose Women and The Wright Stuff. I thought she presented some cooking show for a while as well.
    She sounds exactly the same though.
