      Because the expenses is in the future therefore, you've to match the grant to the period of the expense proportionately.

    Hi Silvia, I hope this message finds you well. I have a question in relation to revenue grants. Since revene grants are either recognized as other income or written off against the expense that the grant compensates for, my question is what happens to the receivable amounts (if there is any) as we are dealing with PnL. Isnt it off balance sheet item? For example we may get a reveneue grant which we woud receive the following month after the expenses so by the end of the year there can be a receivable amount which not got captured as we recognizing the income in PnL. Isnt it advisable to have a grant control account in this situation ?

    • @CPDbox
      @CPDbox  Před 10 měsíci

      If you have the right to receive a grant, then you actually recognize a grant receivable when that right arises.

    Hi Silvia if the government Grant's land with an obligation to build property. Should the initial accounting be dr. Land and credit liability for the Fv of the grant of land?

    • @CPDbox
      @CPDbox  Před 3 lety +1

      You would credit deferred income, to be more precise, and amortize this deferred income in profit or loss over the period of property's useful life or so - please see paragraph IAS 20.18
