Hi! Yes for sure worth it to apply. The acceptance rate has gone up in the last couple years so the chances of getting in are higher. They don't require SAT/ACT scores and the main weight is put on the essay and interview for sure. I would say for sure worth it to apply! What are you interested in studying?

Yes I do! Although I myself wasn't a theater major I took a lot of those classes and was a part of a bunch of productions in my time at Bard. The classes are smaller in size which means you get a much more intimate experience with peers and professors. I would say in terms of theater and performance Bard's strengths are in the classes themselves, the plays, Opera Workshop, dance, and student run productions. The biggest downside to the theater department that I felt most disappointed by was musical theater because there is no faculty supported main stage production. There is a student run main stage show, however, they don't get as much support as they should. I will say that even in the four years that I was there I felt like that was starting to shift for the better. I feel like the musical theater has begun to develop especially since a Musical Theater Workshop class was just added recently.
Hey! Im interested in the dance department at Bard but I don't see much info on it...do you know about it at all?
Hi yes I do! I'm not a dance major but have taken a lot of dance classes at Bard. It is one of the smaller majors, but with a wonderful faculty. They focus heavily on modern style dancing, however, you can take ballet, African, jazz, etc as well! I will say the dance repertory classes focus on modern usually. The only classes I haven't taken are the choreography classes which is typically reserved for majors. Overall the dance faculty is incredible and the classes are great! I would say the one downside is that most dance classes in the beginner and intermediate levels are 1 credit so it can be difficult to reach all of the requirements if you are also double majoring in something else. Also another way to get involved with the dance department is through auditioning to be in people's moderation or senior project dance concert pieces! hi i have a question, im an international student and im kinda stressing about applying and stuff im applying for early admissions, was the application process hard for you? and is it hard to get accepted orrrr? also i wanted to thank u for this this was so helpful!! ur so pretty btw!!
Hi!!! I think applying early admissions is a great idea especially if you're feeling stressed about it because your chances of getting in for sure increase. What's nice about Bard is they value your writing samples and the interview over standardized testing. I wouldn't say it's easy to get accepted, but I also wouldn't consider it as hard as some of the schools out there. I remember feeling so much better about my application process with Bard when I met the person interviewing me because the pressure pretty much evaporated. They really just wanna get to know you, that's why the interview is so important. Also the writing samples in general give so much more insight into a person which is why I appreciate that Bard values them so much (it's a big writing school, that's why they have a language and thinking program for everyone no matter intended major for freshman). Hi thank you!!! I'm so glad you liked it :) I would say it has gotten a little easier to get into Bard over the past couple years. You don't have to submit SAT or ACT scores so its really based on your essay, interview and high school GPA. It's a medium range difficulty school to get into I'd say. Definitely worth it to apply!
