- Filmed on 04/08/2022. Ah, I know, this is a regular visit to York but travelling via a very different route and on Northerns daily service. But, a stroke of luck there is quite a lot happening on this day (Season 9 Episode 29)
Although, there has been some problems for the York to Scarborough mainline services due to a track circuit failure which lead to a heavily delayed Nova 3 arrival in from Scarborough. But, with hopes for the future plans that the Transpennine Express Nova 3 sets by December should hopefully see a much longer journey beyond to Manchester.
LMS 46115 is working this years honours of The Scarborough Spa Express which for this year, is only running on limited dates for this year. But, the benefits is that it is steam all the way from Carnforth with a few water and coal stops along the way. Compared to the recent years where it has been diesel hauled between Carnforth to York, this is a big difference and a much better improvement.
Lumo Trains are earning their keep (despite the speeding incident at Peterborough) Their class 803's are going strong but they do only run on electric power only and have no diesel modes in them. No 225 sets sadly but they are being repainted into InterCity Swallow livery. But, there are a few in service running between London Kings Cross and Leeds.

Hi Ricky I went to York last Thursday with my PA Chris Thomson and you saw a Steam Train called Scots Guardsman heading for Scarborough and that was a excellent video.
Hello Alex. Yes, that is right. It is an LMS 46115 Scots Guardsman steam locomotive. It was one of only 3/4 workings of this years The Scarborough Spa Express. I hope you and Chris had a good time in Scarborough seeing the train.

Awww LNER have adopted GWR's "Zones" for IET's.
Now, this system I really do like as it makes life a lot easier to find where the train will stop and where first and standard coaches are.

Just checking all the times etc. Did 4 XC services leave southbound in the space of ten minutes? Which is the actual time they got to York?
No, 4 Cross Country services didn't leave within 10 minutes heading southbound. Normally, there is an hourly Cross Country service which leaves at 48/44 minutes past the hour.
There are a few which leaves York at 35 past the hour southbound which goes to Banbury.
