On the first play, you have to bring the ball back over the yellow line before you can throw it. If you block a throw with your ball you're safe (has to be clean, no finger contact). If you get hit by the ball you are out once the ball touches any object other than a live player. As a consequence of this, if you get hit and the ball bounces into the air and is caught by your teammate, you are safe. If you catch a ball, the thrower is out and you get a player back. Team with the most balls (or players if tied) has to throw a ball over half within 10 seconds.

While i respect the game, I prefer ultimate dodgeball. I understand why the rules are the way they are, but this just results in volley fire every ten seconds and that just isn't as exciting or entertaining to watch as ultimate dodgeball

@@SYKRAL1 That's not an uncommon reaction, and I found I only really started to enjoy watching this format after I had played it. Similar to soccer, once you can see drama and tension in all the little things that are going on, it becomes much more exciting. From an athlete's perspective, ultimate dodgeball is kind of a nightmare. The footing is terrible and using the trampoline to jump high into the air is a poor strategic choice, which makes me feel that the whole format is entertaining but ultimately gimmicky.
