I followed all the instructions. Everything worked for me except the claw and the suction. I don't know what I can be doing wrong. I even took it apart and put it back together. Any advice?
best i can advice is check the hydraulic cylinder works before fixing the claw in, and also make sure the gears and position of the suction mechanism follows the instructions carefully

Well done video, and an interesting and educational toy. A small pair of flush cut pliers would have made it a bit safer and more efficient. It did use, and show a lot of the mechanical aspects of an industrial, pick and place robot. It would be prohibitively expensive, but would be nice if input/output controls and logic could be included to make it a true robot. Not being critical, just thinking out loud.
vegetable oil works too and a little thicker then water.

This is very nice.
I have one but the claw doesn't close or open when I push/pull the lever, the piston keeps getting stuck and I have to manually move the claw open to fix it. How to fix this?
Here is what I would check:
check which area is the source of the issue: the hydraulics or the claw. You can remove the pistons from the claw first and see if moves smoothly, if its hard to compress make sure the pistons are lubricated properly to reduce friction or make sure nothing is stuck in the tubings that may prevent water from flowing properly.
If its the claw that is hard to move either check the gears are properly fixed together or reduce friction with lubricant.

Fill one syringe with water, connect one end of the tube to the syringe and submerge the other end in water.
Squeeze the syringe empty and suck back the water, this is to fill the tube with water. (you can repeat this until theres no more bubbles in the syringe and tube.)
Then with the connected syringe full of water, connect a compressed syringe at the other end of the tube.
Can someone please email me a manual? I don't have one but have all the original new parts to build one.
