This episode would make a great work force training material - we often take other people's contribution as meaningless or easy until we walk at least 'A Mile in My[sic] Shoes.'
Another great episode, but sadly it probably wouldn't even be aired today because of Les wearing black face. It's all done with great humor, but it seems many have lost their humor these days.
Ever notice how funny Jewish comedians were from the 50's through the 90's? Every wonder how the Jewish people developed such a deep sense of humor? @@maryvalentine9090 no, not freaked out. Figure I was a young teenager back then and I'm 55 now. So 71 would be about right. Saw pictures of her recently. She's no Jaclyn Smith (now there's a woman who doesn't age - and she's 4 years older than Jan), but she's not hideous looking either.
@@HungryForTastyFoodAndComicArt Not true. Farrah Fawcett's long, flowing feathered hair and Cher's long straight hair were two of the hottest and most popular looks of the late 1970s. It was only older women who had helmet hair. Jennifer's hair is both long (youthful) and blonde (sexy) but at the same time carefully coiffed to suggest she is sexy but classy and not loose. Her character was made smart and decent, the opposite to the cheap sex-bomb looks. Women's hair sends messages about the times and the woman. Older women's hair tends to be shorter than younger women's hair, more 'in control' (especially as she goes up the economic ladder). It symbolizes status and power. So while Bailey, who is unsure of herself, has a very young girl's hairstyle that's still trendy (bangs and a bit of feathering) that suggests a "wash-and-go, youthfulness and inexpensive maintenance, Jennifer's hair suggests poise, control, status and expensive salon maintenance far above her likely salary range, adding to her mystique as a woman in a traditionally low-status job who dresses and looks like she's wealthy, but who clearly isn't sleeping around to get money. That's why she's a complex character and not a stereotyped empty-headed blonde bombshell. The hair says it all.
Lester in "Black Face" at the end. Oh, it's still funny. People just have their senses of humor neutered. The whole reason blackface was offensive was that in certain circumstances it was used to demean or stereotype black people.
