  • A hero named Robert C. Moore came to the rescue of a man who drove off the Lynchburg Ferry in Baytown. The Coast Guard honored the good Samaritan with an award.

    Maybe he was just following the highlighted route on his Garmin ….
    Seriously, I read, years ago not long after Garmin Navigator navaids came out, that some guy in Denmark did just that - mindlessly following the route on his Garmin, and not realizing that he was being directed to take the ferry, and that here was no bridge/ causeway there.

      Had a similar problem, Garmin GPS put me about 2 feet away from driving off an unfinished highway overpass in CT
      after that close call i donated to the thrift store and learned how to read a map, some people aren't meant for certain things and this certainly was a thing i was not meant for.

      no no no that was from the episode of The Office (season 4 episode 3) where Michael Scott drove the car into the lake. He did that before any of yall did that in Denmark or wherever.

      I think he was trying to make a point to his co-worker about the lunacy of automation and how humans know better than so called "SMART-devices" like GPS.
