I agree use to live and work in uptown. Too many gangs shooting open air drug selling in front of Truman college. Shootings by McDonald's Sheridan and Wilson. many memories but bad ones also. Force to move now in Texas.
Moved to Uptown the same year this was shot. And still here. From the stories, videos and pictures... it's definitely gotten better. 👍 And oh yeah, I was a part of opening that Target in 2010 so I say I got a good deal out of moving here. ❤ Uptown is a great part of history and the city!
@Tim OB Wrong, the Popes and the Royals were sissies. (The G Lords were *not* making deals with other gangs seeking protection in jail or prison, like the Royals. They didn't need to.)
@T OB First of all, Hispanics were welcome in the Gaylords, at least in some sets. (If you're brown, you can stick around.) :) And the Kings and the Lords were allies for awhile, if you go back several decades. And there were 100% whites in the Kings, too. My old address was on 4701 N Beacon st. I call Uptown "Sesame Street" due to the large racial/ethnic mix of people living, working and shopping there.
