Interesting Fact: You can take the creature to the saw machine that you used at 9:32 and that breaks it's shell and it survives and you have to guide it to the machine and then get it to help you open the door instead of just taking his hand in the alternative choice. It's quite interesting how there's multiple ways you can progress

That's really interesting because most people would probably think the saw means death and the scoop is the safe option. Just goes to show you can't assume anything as this is an alien world.

the art style, the environment and the ambiance keep making my hairs stand on end. I kept having to look behind me a few times 'cause my hackles kept going off like something was right behind me irl. Very well done!

If Giger was alive, he would've screamed like a little fan-girl at this game, for sure.

While everyone cites Giger as an influence (and I don't blame them, the textures look highly similar to Giger's work, although most of his biomechanical horrors were grayer and dead looking; the faint shades of pinks and reds and yellow and white add a new disgusting layer to it, as it implies there's still _SOME_ life to this place), I think the Serbian team that made this would've been just inspired as by the "Nightmare Artist," Zdzisław Beksiński whose artwork either predated or came out at around the same time as Giger's.
It often featured lots of skeletons, images of war, chaos, people being fused with architecture, soldiers, and bizarre creatures that had faces with no eyes and large fang-filled maws or had very minimalistic features of two eyeholes and a round circle portraying a mouth, that made their faces look nearly skull like (kinda like Coco from Animal Crossing or the pink things from the animated sections of the Pink Floyd the Wall movie).
Many theorists speculated that Zdzisław was inspired by his childhood growing up in the Jewish ghettoes of Poland just as WWII broke out across Europe, and that, at least on a subconscious level, that his works were based on the horrors of his youth that he bore witness to, the inhumanities of man against mankind. For example, a number of his paintings feature the color 'Prussian Blue' prominently; this is because before it was used as a color of paint, Prussian Blue was derived from Prussic Acid or as it's more commonly known Cyanide, and its chief use was as a pesticide poison. If you don't know where I'm going with this, the Nazis used Prussic Acid in their gas chambers, where they often executed Jewish concentration camp prisoners in a highly systematic, almost cattle like way, each victim being processed and sent to their doom.
Likewise, a number of his paintings show people becoming merged with chairs or buildings; this could be symbolic of how the Nazis, after killing the Jews, would desecrate their remains and upholster their furniture and shoes with leather made from their skin. The Nazis didn't see them as people, and so they treated their remains as they would any other 'animal': as something to be reshaped however they pleased into something they wanted.
Sadly, Zdzisław would be killed in 2005 by an acquaintance of his named Robert Kupiec, who stabbed him to death over a dispute in which Kupiec claimed Beksinski refused to pay him a loan for a few hundred Zlotys (approximately $100 USD). A sad end to a talented artist, to be killed over something so trivial and stupid!

Zdzilaw was an amazing artist it was sad that his life was cut short like that.

Lazar Mesaroš and Ebb are Serbian. They are inspired by both. It's good to shine a light on Zdzisław Beksiński though, people and media round this tend ignore the other inspiration. 👍
Beksínski! I remember finding him for the first time after looking up horror artists when I was bored, always loved how eerily beautiful his stuff was.
Definitely interested in this game, looks GREAT and really cool, although it was painful to watch us torture that creature…ugh that didn’t sit well with me…but otherwise great game! Stunning detail too

Oh wow, this is so cool. This is exactly like the Darkseed always looked in my eyes back in the early 90's. Really detailed, and beautifully made game.
In all honesty I think the first chapter is based around how our character became what he is when he wakes up because if you look at how he landed and like the hand positions and what not it looks exactly how our character should have been when we started this game so not only did we start the game seeing what we are and us breaking free but we saw how we even got into that position with the goo covering us.
It's a really interesting game I would totally watch the full thing if it ever comes out
I get the vibes of eerie puzzle games like Riven, Crystal Key, and Schizm from the 90's and early 00's. A very alien world with a story that gets explained through exploring and puzzles.

FINALLY! The wait has been long, but I'm not disappointed at all. The atmosphere is fabulous. It's like crawling into a Giger painting. I'm stoked!
It's... fascinating, in a visceral way. Clearly there are mechanics involved, these... *things* move and act like machinery. Most of it at least. There's metal, or at least some sort of tough outer shell, keeping it all together. Yet the parts that are exposed have no wires. Instead it's flesh, veins and bone. The internals usually kept hidden and safe underneath our own skin. The see-through bits aren't made of glass but some strange membrane.
It's a blend of man-made technology and natural growth, so well mixed together the lines are blurred beyond recognition.
(This is what I'd imagine an advanced technological Hive Mind would use.)
I remember this being originally shown as a shooter. I wasn't expecting puzzle solving, but not a bad thing.

FINALLY! It's here! I've been waiting for this game for years.
I remember learning about this game through a hidden object company, at the time they were called ERS Games. I can’t recall if they had any connection to the game or were simply promoting it. Either way the game really reminded me of HOGs visually and story wise, but without the HO element. I was super excited to see this game when it came out, but forgot about it. So now I’m beyond thrilled to see it being played by one of my favorite CZcamsrs!
I was looking for other creators who played this game and saw that you could kill the poor pod creature too. So I'm kinda glad SHB did this alternate path so I could see how it worked. I'm not sure which is better for the poor guy. Being used as a key or an assumed quick death before having his arm used as a key.

Seems like the game is very in depth in terms of environmental information. This reminds me a lot of outer wilds in terms of the puzzle solving and the way the game is played out. If you really think about it the saw had actual bodies meaning the bodies of those eggs remained while the scooper only the shells remained meaning multiple ways to achieve goals all probably resulting in different things. A keynote I did observe watching several playthroughs is that the main difference in keeping the creature alive vs killing it is that the big door behind you closes if you keep it alive vs the door remains open when you kill it. Also noting that some doors were past that are assumingly unlockable perhaps leaving the door unlocked would be useful time saver or an alternate path to get back to the closed doors in the beginning. None the less, it seems like the game is puzzly having multiple answers to puzzles but the most important keynote is observing the environment for clues to how you wish to proceed and the consequences for solving each puzzle seem to come from not solving the problem itself but the way you solve it. Its kinda like forcing the player to be observant of the surroundings instead of brute forcing every option. For sure a game i am gonna play and im not a horror fan.

Ahhh I just finished the prologue as well, and I didn't consider steering the lil humanoid man the other direction. In my game he didn't get dropped down. If you do the other path, he gets scooped out "gently" and will follow you around.

Liminal spaces are usually very cold industrial sterile type environments to see an environment have that same liminal vibe while being so soft and fleshy and organic it's just adds to the weirdness of it
