    A much better comparison would've been the Left (blue) side of the Protein vs the Left (Heavy Hand ) side of the Duellist... which is a bluesbreaker circuit. The Right side of the Duallist is a stock or modified Tube Screamer (depending on dip switches) and the Right side of the Protein is an an ODR-1 circuit, which is a considerably different pedal. The only thing close to an apples to apples comparison is Protein Blue (left side) vs Heavy Hand (left side)... which wasn't covered in this video. The pretty dramatic changes you can make with the external dip switches of the Duallist, as well as it's ability to switch the order of which side feeds into the other, also deserves a mention.

      Tac is absolutely right. This channel should be called Guitar Emergency cuz this guy needs help. Do some research before you waste our time.

      Haha -- yes. I was waiting for the appropriate comparison of the Bluesbreaker circuits and the TS circuits. Never done because he doesn't know. And that Tyler headstock is still ugly. 🙂

    I have both, and I love both, but I usually prefer the Protein. However, for comparisons, the left side of the Protein should be compared to the left side of the Duellist. The left side of both pedals is a blues breaker circuit, so that’s a better comparison. The right side of the Duellist is a tube screamer circuit, which is completely different than the blue channel on the Protein. The right side of the Protein is based on a Noebels ODR1, which is also different than the Tube Screamer, but closer than the blues breaker circuit. So that would have been a closer match when going back and forth.

    Thanks for providing the examples. These are two pedals I’ve been looking for wondering which would be best for me.

    I wish I would have seen this video before I bought a protein. I would have got the duellist. The protein cuts a mid-range frequency that my ear has to hear when playing. It's hard to hear it until you get a guitar in your hands but now I can spot it in this demo. ((EDIT))(((( I just watched the end of the video & you said the exact thing I did. I just Subscribed. Great review)))))

    Imo, they are far too similar sounding. Not a bad thing... Both have incredible tone, I just feel like they are the same pedal, just different casing

    Two of the best dual overdrive pedals hands down maybe too pricey and difficult to find. Great alternative at a more reasonable price is the VS Audio Royal Flush.

    I play protein live the Sunday morning on a 700 hundred attendees church and sound crew say it all the time you pierce the mix so well even the keyboard does not resist you lol maybe my Lambertones pickups Help it but don’t be afraid that you don’t pierce the mix because it does like a tomahawk!

      I agree Pablo but not everyone has the opportunity to test them live. We should always thank whoever makes this content available to us.

      Hi Pablo, I have a fender strat - will the protein give it a great lead tone ? (I'm tired of fizzy sqare wave buzz saw distortion you so often get with cheaper o/d units)

    • @jamesfallon1798
      @jamesfallon1798 Před rokem +2

      With both sides of the protein on it will give a very nice articulate lead tone for your strat. I have both of these pedals and I have found the protein to be the most useful for gigging and playing situations. I use the right side as my rhythm tone then kick the left on for the additional lift
