As a panthers fan the Brian Burns trade really sucked. We could’ve got like 2 firsts last year but ended up with the BS we got

For what the Panthers would have paid for Burns (9 sacks last year), they were able to sign Clowney and Wonnum (combined for 19 sacks last year), and then traded the 39th pick they got for Burns to the Rams for the 52nd pick and a second round pick next year. They then traded the 52nd pick and the other 5th round pick they got for Burns for RB Jonathon Brooks out of Texas. So they essentially traded Burns for Clowney, Wonnum, Brooks, and a 2nd round pick next year. The Panthers are rebuilding, so you tell me which deal was better for the Panthers. Also, it’s important to note that several years ago when the Rams offered two first round picks for Burns, the Panthers had no idea that Burns was going to be asking for 30 million dollars a year. They (understandably) thought he would be asking for something a little more reasonable for a guy with his good but not Nick Bosa like production. Context is important to understand in these situations. If you don’t follow the Panthers closely, and just read the headlines and see the video snippets then it’s easy to make these kinds of broad brush conclusions.

It’s ok though because Shaq Thompson is back and we got Clowney. Our defense will still be a top 5-10 defense. Our offense will be bottom 10

And now you have baby Brycie who will go down as one of the worst first overall picks in history especially when stroud and Richardson went right after.
