Dr. Lydia, you are such a kindhearted person and Horse plus is blessed to have you on staff! I wish every vet had your true deep love for what they do. I foster medical dogs and I've seen one to many vets seem to just not be present in a conversation or an animal's full need. So, thank you for loving all these horses etc and showing true emotion.

Can't you get the Minis from an other organization, so that you can offer them for Adoption? In some areas they have Minis and everyone just want the big horses
So happy Galileo and Merci went to such great homes along with all the horses and kitten. Watching Dr. Lydia moved to tears was heartbreaking. The vets become so attached to the horses they've tried desperately to save. Hard to say goodbye.

Oh Dr. Lydia, I am so sorry for you---I know you try not to get invested in a single horse, but sometimes one comes along. Remember that you released him from a life of pain & discomfort & gave him love & treats at the end. The fact that someone cared about him at the end is important, & you did that for him. Have a good cry, rhen put your angels wings back on so you and Dr.Gina & the team can lead more horses to their next thing, whether it be adoption or release.

So sorry Chip was not doing well. My heart goes out to Dr Lydia, she loved Chip. Was heartbreaking to see Dr Lydia crying. RIP Chip, you wil be missed. The heart breaking truth is that we must eventually say good bye, no matter how hard we try to prolong it, or avoid it... time eventually ends for us all. It is the greatest blessing to give the last act of kindness, to one who needs it, providing peace and honor to the end...

Dr Lydia is the perfect vet for this sanctuary. She cares and she clearly loves horses. But also helps with adoptions. Dr Gina is great too!

Dear Dr Lydia, Don’t be too upset when you have to put a seriously ill horse to sleep. I have seen all my old horses, dogs and cats after they have passed. They are fit and well on the other side. Love is the link.xx
To the wonderful vets and all of the hphs team. Even when it doesn't end the way we all hoped for. This i know 100% that these horses and the dogs and cats plus all the rest. They have received more love and care from you in the short time they are with you then they have ever received in their whole lifes from anyone else. There have been a few that their owners loved them enough to bring them to you and they are very special owners. ♥️♥️♥️♥️🐎🙏🏼

Oh my goodness Dr. Lydia, my heart is simply breaking for you honey. I know how hard you wanted Chip to get better and go on to his second chance at a wonderful life. Please know in your heart that you did everything you could do for him, his body was just too far gone at this point 😢. I know how bad it hurts, but I know in my heart that ya'll are making the right decision for him. At least he knew love and kindness at his end. You treat them all as if they were your personal pets. I love the fact that both your doctors collaborate as I am huge on validation before procedure with anything of important. This leaves next to nothing being overlooked for a "surprise" later! Which when you are dealing with a life, could mean not only a disaster in their care, but life threatening as well. Great job ladies! 👏

I find it somehow comforting to see the emotion over having to go with the last act of kindness for your beloved. The trailer loads of unspeakable pain that you deal with frequently have me in tears. I understand that you all Must deal with it and get through it. That you are doing heartfelt service. But watching your ability to get through it all adds to the trauma because I’m sure you are all suffering shock and horror too. Like field doctors in war. Bless you all for the outstanding work you do in honor of the right thing.

I really liked Merci’s adopter ! She was so excited and seemed just as sweet as the little horse she was getting !! It’s just a good feeling knowing how much the horse will be loved !
Also, I just love Doctor Lydia. Not only is she an excellent vet she just loves the horses and I think that makes a huge difference!!! She’s my fav !!

My heart breaks for all of these horses that come in injured or thrown away because they have problems. You are My Heroes because you take care of them you give them the last act of kindness if they need it while giving them love and care so that they know that they are Loved before they cross the Rainbow Bridge. Devastated to hear about Chip and Glimmer 😔
So very difficult to give the last act of kindness no matter what the situation. Each horse does get to experience a bit of a good life with gentle and expert care before that decision has to be made. Some decisions come quicker but still not an easy thing to do. I would worry if I did not recognize just how these decisions impact everyone involved at Horse Plus. Tears here, too.
I cried all the way through this. Every horse adopted & Cotton the kitten brought such joyful tears. I cried when l saw Chip...
but they were the saddest tears.
I absolutely loved watching you open all your surprize packages. I wish l could send John some of my stuffed chickens! But l also wish l could come help muck out stalls but l am VERY far away (Ottawa) with no access to a car.😕

I am so so very sorry that you are not still here but l know you are now pain-free and running forever free under The Rainbow. I had to laugh at his little bowlegs and what appear to be big paws. Or maybe it's his fur that make them look big. Too cute. I miss my kittie Meeka. I had to put her down because of illness.

I hope chips leg starts feeling better and I hope the bloodwork and the x-rays you took give you guys some answers that leg is really swollen. That port horse. Ouch you guys got some fantastic that they’ll figure out what’s going on.
Apparently, Chip had liver, lung and possible metabolic issues going on, as well. You really should watch the entire video. ❤️
Did Galileo lose an ear?
Yes, I noticed on intake that she had one missing. So it was missing when HPHS got her. Decades ago I had a friend who's daughter bought an Arabian foal whose ear had gotten stepped on when they were in a very small stall. His was damaged but not missing so he wasn't hard to spot when they did NATRC Competitive Trail Riding together.

Glimmer was a horse who held our hopes for recovery, but if not that we held our hopes for the caring and compassion she was shown at the end. Later my spirit was lifted when I saw Sapphire was stylin’ new bandages that matched her halter. I’m sure that helped her be more patient.with getting her newest bandages, because what girl doesn’t love coordinating their accessories!
