- In this episode we get all the equipment ready for a truck run called Haulin the Hume! A run down the old Hume Highway from Sydney to Yass. We get the semi trucks ready, including washing, loading, repairs and new tyres.
You really know how to shift smoothly. Great job 👍
Thank you Paul that’s nice of you mate
I've watched several of the Haulin the Hume videos, I especially enjoy the screaming sound of the 2 stroke Detroit rigs.
Hi mate yes there were a lot of those there
That DCF 400 Transtar is quite unique. Don’t see to many around these days. In early 1975 Wrights Cattle Transport of Mount Isa had a fleet of them . Came thru the Isa in a convoy one evening each one was a body truck towing two trailer configuration. Quite a site to behold.
It is very unique mate. The next episode will be of that one. I remember seeing a picture of those cattle trucks. They have always stood out to me so I remember when I see one. I always thought they were ugly but great at the same time so when the opportunity came to own one I took it. I’m sure it was a great sight. I wonder where they all went
That rough bit of road is the cheapest chiropractor treatment you'll ever get! Like the KW! great sound from the Detroit V-8. Thanks for sharing the vid Steve! Howdy to Jay and Chloe too.
It was a terrible ride mate. Way better to drive with a trailer and weight on it. I will say hi to them mate and Thanks again Jeff
The Road Boss seems to be the loudest truck you have, even more than the KWs.
Yes mate it is. I think it was the loudest on the entire run.
They all look great, spiders and painted rims..... bugger the alloys thanks for posting
Yes mate I can’t agree more. It’s my pleasure
Great comment walking toward the cut frame truck " Got that one for half price"
😂😂😂😂
Love to see it Steve. “Giddy up go 😊”
Thanks Mick🙏🙏🍻🍻
Awesome morning brother hope yall are having an awesome day !!! Relaxing for a bit before I go back to work !!! Hope yall are doing well !!! Awesome adventure as always seeing alot of your trucks
The chassis on the old flat top would look mint 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 with some aluminium paint on it, looks like it’s either white or silver
It would mate. It’s silver at the moment
Big collection of old truck and trailer, the collection is enlarged👍🇨🇵
It has slightly mate but some of it I haven’t filmed either but it’s certainly getting there now
Dang you have a lot of rigs kool ones to buddy...❤❤
I do have a few good ones mate yes. Only all basic but still effective
Hey Steve, Great video love hearing those Jimmys . That V-6 in the White is definitely loud, I can hear it clear up here
states mate.😃
Hi mate thanks for watching. It’s actually an inline 671 in the white. And yes it sure is loud, I have no doubt you probably did hear it over there🤣🤣🤣
Tanks need buffing or wrapping in stainless, my 82 white at work is getting a full make over , I've now got a wheel borrow truck just cab and empty chassis rails from cab back wards , had bad rust jacking on inner support rails ,, so had 2 new inner folded into c sections then got the magnet drill and added the holes to new pieces , now I painted it in red 2 pack , and she's gotta be the cleanest 82 white around esp chassis , needled the entire frame, then sanded it smooth as duco , filled the rust pits after treated it with chemtech rust converter, hopefully the guys in panel shop do the cab paint and rust as good as I did frame , got period style alloy bar to put back on it , all machined to get sandblasting and scratch off it , , all the alloy Alcoa rims are buffed and just got tanks to do but just the butt ends cos it's getting stainless wrapped on tanks , , do you happen to have any air cleaner housings to suit the 82 model white , if there rusty then they are no better than mine , this white is big cam 450hp cummins, slightly tweaked, originally a TNT truck from new , found odd bits of orange as I sanded it ,
I have got any air cleaners of that style mate. I know the ones you mean. It will certainly e a nice unit when it’s up and going. Some progress shots would be nice
Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure mate
Great job Steve
Thanks Michael
Steve's place down Under Love The new Video Keep up the good work Billy Lizza Uniontown pa USA
Thank you as always Billy
Man I'd love to visit one day and go for a rip in that rig 👌👌
It’s not bad mate but mostly noise🤣
@Steve’s Place Down Under haha I loved it when u leant on it a bit after she warmed up.. yeah I'd love to look around the place and check out all the old rigs.. grab a shirt etc 👌
I knew you had a lot of trucks but I think you have way more than even I expected!
Don’t worry mate, there’s more tractors than trucks
@@stevesplacedownunder You must have them hiding somewhere. I think it’ll take a full day (and a lunch) just to give me the nickel tour as I call it.
Only a few down there with the trucks. Most are up near the shed and houses
The interior of the White is just sooo nice mate !
Did I see a tachograph in the Kenworth ? Sounds fantastic, I'd very much suffer the ride quality to listen to it!
Cheers, Ard
Thank you mate yes I spent a lot of time inside of it with paint and upholstery. Yes that’s a tachograph in the Kenworth. It’s all original that truck. It sure does sound good. Thanks for watching as always Ard
Cool mate !
I didn't know there was anywhere outside of Europe that used/uses tachographs.
Nowadays those are electronic and you have a personal drivers card on which everything is registered. It's pain in the backside but what can you do when you want to drive eh?
Ta, Ard
Yes mate a lot of our companies here used to run them
Mrs Richards: " I paid for a room with a view!"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) " That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
Trilex rims. Used them when I was starting out.
I’ve found aluminium paint is brighter as I think it actually has aluminium in the paint and brushing on lasts longer than chromebrite unless you clear coat it as soon as you broom or hand wash it dulls unfortunately hence why they sell so much 😂😂😂 I also spray gun painted aluminium paint on my bogie tipper rims when I repainted it and also clea coated with silver metal flake in it made it look good, just depends how much effort you can be fcuked putting in to what the outcome looks like, good job though
I will have to look into some of it. I’ve never heard of the stuff mate
Hi Steve plenty of space in the living accommodation for essential 🍻 storage 😂
Hi mate yes there sure is🍻🍻🍻🍻
I've seen video of the old White singing through the gears, she's a pearler.
Yes mate I’ve seen plenty of it as well. It got a lot of attention
Trilex rims were use on man and Volvo years ago tyre shops loved them not needed to know how to set them up
I always thought they were called triplex.
@@warrickjones590 no sure there trilex not sure if you can use them any more tyre shop may have banned them now they were very dangerous wheels .man and Volvo used them .
Triplex or trilex???
Can you access cheap truck chassis.
You could make a frame for a decent cover for your truck s cheap.
There is a CZcams Chanel Jonathanw he just did that.
Learning heaps of you cheers
Hi mate I’ve actually got everything I need to build one, but I need the time and the help. I’ve got poles, iron and truss’s. I can’t wait to do it to get them under cover. I saw that episode mate yes, I like Jonathan w, I watch him. I was more of a fan when he was building hot rods though. I’m not really into steam all that much. It is interesting though
Lol
I’m building a house from scratch here too in Perth including big workshop. I carnt even find time to get caravan set up.
If you want to see a good hot rod builder watch half ass kustoms
Some local blokes from where I live took there restored trucks to that drive, an old transtar with old wooden reals on the trailer , And a Kenworth with an old Bedford and Inter R190 on the trailer. You probably would have seen them.
I probably did mate. It was a big event. Lots of vehicles. Was a good weekend apart from a bit of rain
shit mate awsome content mate . lets jam gears let the ol jimmy roar
Thank you mate she certainly does roar
I thought tyres had a use by date.
Hey Steve, I have a question, is this a gas engine powered mixer in the beginning of the video (1:26 min)? Awsome trucks by the way!
Hi mate yes it is. It’s an electric blender that I grafted a 2 stroke trimmer motor to. There’s a story behind it, it may feature one day on an episode. Thanks for the nice comment and for watching mate
@@stevesplacedownunder That's awsome, it reminds me on the sitcom Home Improvement with Tim Allen, I think he build a similar device!
He probably did knowing that bloke mate🤣🤣
Roll on Part Two!!
Out now
@@stevesplacedownunder watching it right now!
Yeah lower the tyre pressures for cruising around did that with my 82 k100 and it had 8 bag air on back too ,, rough as fuck empty so 70 psi made it softer riding ,, why would you run steer on the drive ,, esp on your property, it will be pain in arse if you get slippery ground
Because that’s all I could afford and we don’t use it on the property unless going out the back gate
@@stevesplacedownunder how much did they want for drive tyres then , what did ya pay for those , I mean they all go round and hold wind in em then that will do nicely, cheers bud
I didn’t really ask for that pattern mate but we told them our budget and when I took it there they had those ready to go and I thought they will do. I think $290 fitted and they disposed the old tyres. I don’t like spending too much on them because I have so many bills and a lot of others I’d like to get going also. Thanks mate
@@stevesplacedownunder honestly ya done alright at 290 fitted and they get rid of old shit , and ya not doing high miles anyway , and lucky yeah you got others to drive if it's the wrong day for these tyres , good thing about them is they should make less noise
Yeah for that price mate I wasn’t bothered what they were really. Dad drove it on that run and said it was great. It used to wonder a bit with a mixture of different drive treads and torsion bar suspension.
Whats up with that bullnose merc?
Hi mate sorry for late reply. It’s a 1924. A mate of mine owns it but been here for years. It does run. I parked it there under its own power
What HP is this KW???
Both are 318hp mate
Too many tyre sizes to muck with , convert to 11r even if they look to big , run 295 front as religious on front and always real brand on front Michelin Bridgestone Dunlop, kumho, never use china tyre, tend to burst not even on the truck yet and it blew up while we had few cans , scared fuck out of me I was under truck and it was leaning on the truck , just a metre from my head , had 100psi , drive pressure,
Yeah I agree on good steers. I have Chinese tyres on the steer of the White though and they been great. They are 10.00 though so have tubes. It must of been a faulty batch or something to explode with no weight on it
Detroit music!
my ford ltl 9000 was such a good truck cummins big cam motor
They are good trucks those yes mate indeed
Hey, that looks like fun drive. When are you going to do a video on that yellow Steelweld crane truck? That thing is neat. Man, that White is a noisy son of a bitch, ain’t she? Haha I love it to death.
It’s absolutely beautiful to drive. Not a lot of power but beautiful to change gears and sit in. I can do an episode on the crane mate yea
