- Here is instruction How to turn ignition on Mercedes C class W204 , E class W212 , CLK W207 and GLK X204.
This is only possible if ELV or Electronic steering lock ESL become defective on unlocked or moving position and steering wheel is still turning.
Starting the car is only temporary until driven to the next workshop.
After switching of the ignition car again is not starting until you repeat described actions.

My steering lock is ok.
Used your method to start the motor.
Made some test leads for multi meter. Using male spade connectors, crimped to multi meter leads. Went across 85-86 relay coil pin inserts. Established 12v.
Somehow it rebooted the computer. Motor now starts using the key.

I do the method but my steering is still locked how you did for rebooting the computer and you needed to change anything else for driving ?
@@rossyndosi2845 Don’t know if you have a damaged steering lock. Mine wasn’t. Green relay in relay panel under the hood is the starter relay.
My motor was dead. I took the green cap off the relay. Turned the key so all dash lights were on. Ge gentle. Use a pen or similar to hold the relay closed. Motor started. After a few minutes of running, the computer came back. That was a year ago. Not one issue sinse. Good luck

My c250 went low battery. Charged it up. Everything worked. Except the motor

My car is currently stranded a car park with the steering unlocked but won’t start after my battery died with the key in the ignition on position.
My car wasn't recognizing the key. I tried precisely what's in this video and the car started cranking. I was so excited AMAZING video btw. HOWEVER, it would turn and turn but would kick over and start. The wheel is unlocked. Everything inside the car is on, and running (AC, seat heaters will turn on, dash accessible). The car just won't fully kick over and run. It was running with no problems before. Anyone else have this issue? Thank you again for the video.

How did u remove the cover of the green one in the fuse box mine doesn't look like yours it has like a cover
I tried this car started straight up and runs fine with the steering wheel locked. So at least I know now that it is definitely the esl at fault. Before that I was unsure.

Yes this works but if your steering wheel is locked you can't go anywhere anyway

@@closedtry2377 a nail and hammer 🔨 lol screw wouldn't turn so I used a nail and hammer. Like removing press in studs when you open it remove the studs and reuse them. I'm calling a company today that have all 3 parts for $280.00. I need to see if they are already programmed. Because the Windows doesn't roll down and you have to go under the hood to start. I can keep doing that and my wife Wants to drive it too.

Hello kone, first I want to say thank you for sharing with us this content and I have one question if you can help me please.
I have changed already the ESL motor and also the battery car and everything was working again well from 1-2 years but now my W204 has a new problem, when I take off the key sometimes it doesn’t lock the steering wheel and so when I put back the key inside I can’t start up.
This happened sometimes I had to wait 2-3 second for the steering lock to lock again and it’s only when I take off the key.
Today this time the car definitively not starting, but as I said I change already ESL motor and car battery so what this could be ?

these motors is crap, its probably burned again. Code a simulator for the car instead - any locksmith dealing with Mercedes can help you

Can you start the car like this even if the esl is in the locked position? I think the esl is at fault in my car but if the car started like this then it would let me know for sure before I start the hassle of removing the steering column.

You need to put the on third position, take the fuse out, put it in and the you go to second position, you put back on third position and then you try to start but not more then 3 sec

I find the solution for won't start, you must do quickly, if you wait more than few seconds, the car just cranks and wont start

After engine start, the rotation of wheel works easy or without servo direction ?
Servo direction is not connected with steering lock. After starting the car everything works normal and no any faults displayed on dashboard

I did this and it did start the car twice, but I changed the relay and something sparked now it won't start anymore, any advice

I replaced all the fuses that were associated with the starter fuse# 6, 7,19, and 27 and tried to do the wire trick again and it still won't start. The fuses didn't look burned but I replaced them anyway. I desperately need help, I can't make it to work without my car because I work 400 miles away
Went back and checked... found blown fuse, did the wire trick and I'm rolling, tomorrow I'll be looking for an emulator for the esl

Sometimes fuse description i the user manual is not the the right one for your car.
Always must check all fuses !

This is not a solution to unlock ESL, this is solution when ESL stopped working in a unlocked Position than how to start the car to move it to your garage.
To unlock defective ESL you need to remove the steering column

When ESL is locked, you must dismantle complete steering column !!!
1. Remove steering Wheel.
2. Disconect cables from MRM module.
3 Remove 4 screws holding the steering column and take it complete outside. Than you will see the ESL better.
4. Cut the ESL housing in way which you will be able to turn the big gearwheel into unlocked position. When ESL in unlocked position you will be able to remove screw and take out from steering column.

How do you open up the fuse ?
First you need to remove it. When relay contacts are up you will see on left and right side teeth which are holding the hosing of the relay. You need small screwdriver to release those teeth and housing will slide down and relay is opened.
esl still locked. can i use a emulator to unlock the esl? without removing anything?
no ESL have defective motor and therefore can not move and unlock. Must remove steering column than remove ESL and then install emuator

But first time, everything perfect, after shutting off the engine, I repeated the proces again, everything according the proces, It was cranking but not starting.
