- About 1,300 people remain unaccounted for in Germany after the heaviest rainfall in a century caused deadly flash floods to devastate parts of Western Europe, prompting a large-scale rescue effort. CNN's Nina Dos Santos reports. #CNN #CNNI #News
"Germany saw its heaviest rainfall in a century - France and Italy are sending teams in to search for the missing and help with the cleanup"

Scientists have constantly reiterated, this relatively stable period in Earth's history is a huge anomaly. Our mistake was thinking that the way things were, are the way things will always be. I for see humanity becoming much more nomadic with pockets of permanent settlement in the future. That or our living space and buildings will work more with nature rather than being an obstacle on the landscape. For instance, in area prone to flooding, homes might be able to float as waters rise, rather than being cemented to the Earth.
Yup and we deserve it.

Problem is, all countries are gonna get worse and all will have their own issues, thus no one will come to aid each other later. This is just the start and a small taste of what is fully incoming.
I'm not sure if they are. IT's super hard to find anything about that, but from the last i heard, Italy, UK, Austria all offered Help but germany hasn't actually asked for it yet. Bury your head in the sand if it makes you feel better, but remember, that sand is gonna get hella hot!
So thats where all our rain ended up. I'm over here in the western U.S.
You can really call it that way. The shifting Jetstream is causing these pockets of cut-off weather systems that can go nowhere. In Europe it's a low pressure system with lots of rain and very cold temperatures for July, in northwestern US it's high pressure with record temperatures and droughts.
On the east coast, it's been the wettest July in history. Even so, conditions are more dry over-all, so I'm glad we have municipal water in spite of the cost.

I live in Pennsylvania and we have been getting really bad storms for July which is unusual for us.
@@kathleendavenport4988 It's caused by a weakening of the Earth's magnetic field, which in turn leads to the jet stream getting "loose" and pushing weather further north or south of where they'd ordinarily be. Expect more polar vortices in the next 4 or 5 years.
Seems 100 year weather events are a weekly thing. We had 130 degree fahrenheit (55C) temps in Western US.
Exactly, this is not normal. We’ve had almost no rain in the north of Europe and very high temperatures, which is NOT normal. We had almost no days with below zero (Celsius) in the winter, also very uncommon.

Let us bow our heads in denial.
It sounds nihilistic, but it's worth reminding that the overwhelming majority of life that has ever existed on this planet is extinct. We'll go too. The difference is that we'll be the first to do it to ourselves.
There's almost zero chance we "go extinct". We may collapse civilization entirely and reduce our population by 90% but extinction?
Or we will make it past the great filter and settle space. It is all a matter of our priorities.

Reported in Maricopa county Arkansas so far. 1) Over 100,000 voting ballots that had "bleed through" (when you fill out the bubble, you can see it from the other side of the paper) which means that the paper was not approved by Arizona as it was too thin. The thicker paper does not bleed through.
2) Over 74,000 mail in ballots were returned to the county with absolutely no record of them ever being mailed out.
3) 3.981 voters voted but did not register to vote until after October 15, 2020 which by Arizona state law, their votes were illegal.
4) 18,000 voters were added to the voter roles. They voted and were all removed from the voter roles right after the election.
5) The voter roles were breached by hacking into the counties web sight by an outside source the week of the election. The elections board will not turn the routers over to see who it was that breached them.
6) 11,300 voters voted who were not even on the voter roles.
Not enough trees and shrubbery to absorb and slow down the runoff.
Wrong. The areas affected in Germany are very green. It's a fuckton of water where it shouldn't be. No amount of shrubbery can soak that up.

now that natural catastrophes are affecting rich counties these kind of events make the headlines
Actually these events have been making headlines since the nonsense of climate change began. Before the talk of climate change these events happened but it wasn't reported as much.
@@ScottCleve33 are you really that ignorant? are you that stubborn? climate change is real !!! wake up !
Wasn't that big a deal when it was Guatemala and Honduras, huh?
@@AlessWorld Actually I'm the opposite of ignorant. I listen to what all the climate scientist have to say and weight the credibility. The prdictins of emergency climate events caused by climate change are based on two things.
a) the collection of climate data. This is collecting current climate data while also researching and studying past climate data. Since climate does change natrually on a regular basis and goes through phases this data alone means nothing. 50 years of increasing temeratures can be negated by another 50 years of lowering temps.
b) Climate models. The data collected is then plugged into a climate model that's supposed to give a reasonable prediction of what future climate trends may occur. These climate models are the foundation of the predictions of emergency climate events in the future. Unfortunately these models are created by humans who are prone to mistakes and often times are subject to bias. Thus far none of these climate models have proven to be accurate. Early on they were run in revers to see if they accurately predicted past weather. Later we also found that if they were run forward to predict future events and in both circumstances it failed.
Without accurate climate models these predictions of future climate events are meaningless.

So sad and frightening. So sorry for all.
If, and this is a big if, if we have properly collected climate data and we also have accurate climate models that predict future climate events then why is it that these climate models didn't give us a heads up that heatwaves would be hitting the pacific northwest and floods would be destroying parts of Europe this year? I mean if they're accurate they should have had some sort of warning that these events would occur and people could have been prepared. Right?
You have a grave misunderstanding of how climate data predicts future weather events.
Climate science and models predict long term changes in overall weather patterns. Weather forecasting predicts short term localised events. Also climate scientists have been warning us for decades at this point that large scale weather events like this are likely to become more destructive and more frequent yet our elected leaders and big business particularly the oil and gas industries have been actively ignoring or exasperating the situation for profit instead of listening and acting on the warnings.
You do know that "weather" and "climate" are different words with different meanings, do you?
@@markusrother5577 you do realize that climate is only a long term study of weather don't you?
@@redharp4749 no. Future predictions of the climate are based on climate models. Inaccurate climate models means inaccurate predictions of future climate events. Without climate models all you are left with are climate records which cannot predict future climate.
As the climate warms, it holds more moisture. I’m 62. I think I know that from 4th grade around the time Hurricane Camille took out much of the Gulf Coast.
How does it hold moisture and cause droughts at the same time?
Global warming, the price we pay for ignoring mother earth.
I love the heat... I'm from Phoenix and I'm happy as a horny toad on taco tuesday
