  • A quick review of the Avant 860i after I had owned it for just a hot minute. Moving logs with a Ritchie Bros auction grapple bucket.

I just saw this. I’ve had a 520 for over ten years. It has practically same features but it is much smaller.
You should be able to steer even when machine isn’t moving, but the engine has to be running. Turn off the lock so the wheels can roll more freely. Especially if on tarmac,
The lift capasity of Avant is huge when compared to what each of them weights. Small tractor (4000 pounds or less) can rarely lift more than 1200 pounds. My 520 weight is about 2500 pounds and I moved a stone about 1700 pounds with it. I had extra weight in the back and a fork lift in the front.
The steering needs some time to get used to. Especially when going backwards.
When you go backwards and turn the steering wheel at first you feel like nothing happens. It is because the bench is moving to the opposite direction because it is over or even behind the center articulation. That makes you turn more and then suddenly you notice you oversteered. It makes you drive like a snake in the ground.
Otherwise I think it is a very good machine though it is not cheap. The set of different tools is huge. There are over 200 of them though many of them are a same tool but different size for different size of a machine. Them tools are not cheap either.

I like my Avant 635 for landscaping in Minnesota. 860i would be a great addition for moving stone pallets and setting boulders.

Thank you for this video. We’re considering an 860 also…

Hate the hydraulic whine.years ago all the main companies got tired of everyone complaining about it so they all went to high flow hydraulic pumps.they said it's quiet and improves attachment variety.
Now where back to square one.
    I see what there doing.

How do you think it would handle a snow plow?

I will be finding out in a few months...stay tuned...but from what I have seen they are very good in snow and with the turf tires

If Avant (as a company) was so unjust towards you, why did you buy their product?
