I took mine apart and reassembled it like a million times. The mechanisms inside a blip game are absolutely fascinating. Yeah ...i was that weird ass kid.
That's funny you said that, I did the exact same thing with mine when I was little, wanted to see what was inside to make the glowing ball move back and forth.
OMG completely forgot about this. I had one back in the day. It did a fair job of convincing me I was living in the future so long as I didn't think about it too hard.
I had this game all those years ago. I had a lot of fun with it. It's great to see these old things show up from your childhood on CZcams, they can bring back so many memories from so long ago.
My siblings and I called a rule: "no button jamming!"... When that little light came towards your side, you depress ALL THREE buttons - it would jam the arm and light within the game compartment. You then see to which bank the light was headed (1, 2, or 3), and act accordingly. If the light was jammed and stuck at 1, simultaneously you would stay pressed on 1, while letting 2 and 3 go. This game was very cool to a kid in the 1970s - but it got very boring quickly, if it even lasted that long before malfunctioning or breaking. I think the arm in ours broke after owning it for just a few weeks.
I thought they might be trolling Ralph H. Baer :P His version of pong was more of a prototype than a finished game and he did go onto steal Atari's idea to make Simon.
I totally forgot it needed a battery. I just posted about having a Blip, and that was the last time I played a video game in which graphics didn't negatively impact the gameplay for me. I just ruined my "memory" of having a video game that could survive an EMP blast from a nuclear bomb. Oh well.
Bricktown Washington I never tried playing without the battery. I do remember the game being terribly hard for me to play. I just had a hard time imagining who had reflexes fast enough to hit the correct button to send the ball back to the other end. I guess by 4 years old, I already knew I would suck at games.

I had one of those when I was a kid. I was fascinated with it. I was 11 years old.

Fun video. Short and sweet.
This format would be a super effective advert for certain kinds of toys lol
I had that game when I was kid in the 70's.
Still have mine, and it works!
Loved the sound it made. Will never forget it.

WOW...I had forgotten about this game!!! 40 years later BAM here it is!
Minor quibble: The "Atari Pong" depicted is actually a Magnavox Odyssey.
Which ironically Pong was a copy of :D

I had this game and thought I was so hi-tech with it
I had one and a Digital Derby 😂👍 they were a bit lame even then lol
I had the Sears knock-off of Digital Derby, simply called "Driving Game"!
Happy 40th, Blip.
Funny that when they state that it was a copy of "Atari's Pong Video Game System" they show a Magnovox Odyssey.
I have one in the box still.
my sons first ever electronic game he had to have!!! I want Bwip...
you had to push the correct button before the ball got there.
I had this game

It actually didn't. The battery was only needed to see the LED. We took the cover off when the bulb broke and still managed to have fun.
