- Kaverin kanssa päästiin käsiksi VAIN noin 17v ladossa levänneeseen Vauxhall Cavalieriin, kyseessähän on teknisesti täysin sama auto kuin Opel Ascona B. ottaen huomioon että auto oli lepäillyt sen 17 vuotta ladossa niin silti on lähes täysin ruostevapaa, väkivahva 1.6 litranen CIH kone käy kuin kultakello konsanaan. saa nyt nähdä jotta päästäänkö tällä OCF:n summerpartyyn kalajoelle ens kuun alussa ;)
So me and my friend managed to buy this old beauty Vauxhall Cavalier mk1, wich had sat for the last 17 years in a barn. the car is nearly fully rost-free and the engine is working perfectly. we are trying to get this car back on the road as soon as possible, our target is to get the car MOT'd before 4.7.2014, because at the time there's annual summer party of Opel Club Finland, and we're working hard that we could go there with this Vauxhall. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Almost tearful seeing this! Had an almost identical car (same colour, 2 door 1.6L) from 1979-1984. It had a hard life and suffered more rust. Great motorway car and this one must be incredibly rare. Mine had the steering on the correct side though!!
hah the "corect side" :D
Good car them Vauxhall’s
Unusual to see Vauxhall abroad and left hand drive. Usually would be an Opel (Ascona).
woodbine66 in Finland, Asconas and Cavaliers were sold at the same time, alltough Ascona was much more popular due to cheaper price.
Great cars my grandad has one in some yellow colour
My first 4 cars were these mk1s soft engines though
17 years in a barn. its in very good condition. all it really needed was just a tune up. has it got through the M.O.T?
Yeah, it was in great condition. It only have two little rusty spots wich needs to be fixed. My friend is trying to get it in M.O.T condition but the work is proceccing very slowly because my friend who owns this car has no time and money to work with it. But i promise this Vauxhall will see road again :)
I thought Finland would have got the Opel Ascona instead but in the 70's Vauxhall did sell the Cavalier, Chevette etc to other countries outside the UK.
Michael Langley Asconas and Cavaliers both were sold in Finland but Ascona were much more popular due to cheaper price
great work getting this car running again. can it use unleaded petrol?
It got better the longer it ran once it burn't off that old petrol in the tank.
2:30 "We changed the …………….". In other words, they've still no idea what the problem was ;).
My grandad exactly the same car same colour
its better to change oil and timing belt before starting it
was the cavalier running of its own fuel in the tank or just fuel in the carb?
At first the cav ran with the fuel in the carb but when se had ran it for about minute or two, it started to run with its own fuel from the tank, wich had been in the tank whole time when the cav was sitting in the barn!
mitä tälle autolle kuuluu tänäpäivänä?
Erkki Kakkola odottelee vieä pikku ruoste fiksauksia, jarrujen herkistelyä katsastukseen. omistajalla ei vaan tahdo olla aikaa tarpeeksi, kun markilla on kolmisen kymmentä autoa
Onko tuo Kenen Vauxhall
How's the Cav now?
michael jagger The Cavalier is stored at the owners old byre wich is transformed into a car shed including car workshop, so the car won't rust. It still needs a little corrosion repair work, brake service and other little things to be done. Altough the Cav won't need much to be done to pass inspection, my friend who owns the car haven't got the time needed for this beauty due he works his ass of to get paid enough for living and to fund his car hobby
jorma motorsport Least it can't rust anymore and i hope one day the Cavalier will see the road again.
