- Hi everybody! This is a wonderful loop hike adjacent to Icicle Creek in the Wenatchee National Forest, near Leavenworth. When I visited the creek was pretty high and flowing quickly, making for a refreshing atmosphere. Nice bridges and some mountain views along the way.

Icicle Creek originates at Josephine Lake and flows to the Wenatchee River, where it joins at Leavenworth. The Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery is just outside Leavenworth.
The name comes from a Native American word, na-ski-let meaning narrow canyon. If you add an N to the beginning and T to the end of ‘Icicle’. … N icicle T… you have the original word.

Loved the creek at the start, a real wild feel to an awesome place. Perfect hiking weather for me and a great trail to follow too. Well signposted and so much information along the way too and surprised at how quiet the trail was, as the falls were so specular. We have gooseberry bushes in the UK but never heard of a black one before. Loved the log bridges across the creek, a real good use of fall down - great trail, great hike, cheers Alan

Interesting to read that Cedar will replace the Lodgepole pines in 30 years. And I can imagine how that river acts as a conveyor belt for fish.

Hi Dave! That was really interesting to me too, about the Lodgepole and Cedar trees. From what I understand the Cedars really need lots of water- they should love being right up along the river. In some of our other forests there is a general progression of dominant trees after forest fires... forests where Douglas Firs will eventually be the dominant trees. Y, wasn't that interesting to learn more about the fish and the river! You're so kind, thank you! I hope you and Sue have an amazing weekend too! :) sending love from Washington!
