It's crazy how things work these days I bought two houses working two jobs one was always a waitress job for cash tips. It's terrible the way companies screw their employees
I own my own restaurant and you are totally correct. A lot of restaurants that have servers with tips on credit cards or debit cards will keep a percentage, I personally do not do that to my servers. At the end of their shift they pull the money for their credit card out of the register so each day is settled and done. I do my own bookkeeping and to me, it’s just easier. I was also a server growing up and that was before credit card machines and POS machines, I still understand being a server, or just in food service period is not an easy task.
