- Hello again everyone! Today's video is a full tour around Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda and continues our video series at the Bahia Principe complex in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
This is a wonderful resort with beach access. There's even a quiet pool if you're looking for even more! The restaurants are great - we had a delicious dinner at the Japanese restaurant Takara! We also found the ocean is very nice here, a good amount of shallow water for those who aren't super comfortable swimming. One more thing that stood out to us here was the service! The staff at Esmeralda was very nice and attentive - especially at Takara!

A question please? are the buffet restaurants open all day? or are they closed for some time. and once they are closed is there some kind of snack bar available to get something to eat? Also, I noticed that the Italian restaurant was open. Are the a la carte restaurants open usually for lunch also?
The buffets do close for a short time between meals to switch over. There is a snack bar on the beach that you can eat at in between. The ala cartes are open only for dinner. Is an ala carte is open for lunch, it will be a small lunch buffet.
So helpful. Thanks. I also watched the full tour video of the Grand Punta Cana. To me it seems the grand Punta Cana looks better than the luxury Esmeralda. Do you know what really is the difference between the Grand and the Luxury resorts? is it the food? something else? And why can those who stay at the Esmeralda not go to the buffet restaurants of the other resorts? Is the food in the buffet restaurants different? Thank you for any reply.
The Luxury Esmeralda is definitely better than the Grand Punta Cana! The rooms, the food, the service and the amenities are better at the luxury hotels. The extra benefit is that you can visit and eat at the grand hotels in addition to the luxury ones. We definitely recommend the Luxury Esmeralda over the Grand Punta Cana 👍🏻

Yes! If you’re staying at a “luxury” hotel, you can use all the pools and beaches 👍🏻
Another question please. When we come from the airport with the shuttle bus are we going to be dropped of here at the Esmeralda lobby, or at the main lobby first, in Punta Cana? also, do those little open cars continuously drive around and pick up people from their respective hotels?
Yea, you will be dropped off directly at the Esmeralda lobby 👍🏻 yes, the trolleys run all day and evening - although you might have to wait a bit to catch one.
With those four post sun shades next to the pool do they have to be booked or first come first serve kind of deal? Thanks
First come first serve! Tip: people reserve the best spots early in the morning 😑 so head there as early as u can to snag a spot!

Hi there! Masks are no longer required in Dominican. They might ask you to wear them when going to get food at the buffet 🤔 I haven’t seen anyone tip with Canadian bills or coins - mostly USD 👍🏻 Dominican people are as friendly as you are to them 👍🏻

Just wondering if this resort is old and if so has it been renovated recently. I don’t like staying in older resorts if they haven’t been renovated?
I’m not 100% sure, but it doesn’t seem to have been renovated recently 🤔 Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar was recently renovated however, and the rooms are great!
We went in April are were really quite disappointed. The many trip advisor 2 star ratings are very accurate. Staying at Ambar would have been a much better experience, but we have a young daughter

Esmeralda is nice, but Ambar is definitely nicer 👍🏻 the rooms are newer and the dining options are better as well. I can’t tell you what the price difference is, it depends on the nightly rate during that time of year 🤷🏼♀️ but if you can budget to go to Ambar, you will not be disappointed 👌🏻
hi i am also wondering if there is a microwave at the snack bar or someplace i can use a microwave? I am traveling with a baby there and need a microwave for steralization purposes. thanks
No, we don’t remember seeing any microwaves 🤷🏼♀️
Can reservations for restaurants be made at booking or does it have to be done at check in?
You might be able to reserve your dining a week before checkin if you book directly through the Bahia website - otherwise you book them when you arrive at the resort 👍🏻
Great video you guys. Please tell me this. I have knee issues and going up and down stairs is a problem with me. Does this resort have facilities in place (elevators, ramps, golf carts etc) to help me get everywhere I might want to go? (ie: from room to restaurants, beach, pool etc..) Thanks so much, Steve S
Yes they have ramps and golf carts, but no elevators. You can request a accessible room on the ground floor of one of the villas

Do you prefer the emeralda/fantasia side or the ambar/aquamarine side? I’m traveling with my friend and we are looking to stay on the side that is most fun with lots of activities.
I would say the Ambar is the nicest out of all the Bahias - and it’s adults only. They always have tons of activities going on during the day and a cool sports bar to hang out at in the evening.

Unfortunately aquamarine cannot go to Ambar. The “luxury” resorts can visit other luxury and grand resort, but the grand resorts can only visit grand. Esmeralda is a luxury, so if you’re wanting to visit Ambar, I would recommend Esmeralda. Hope that makes sense.

Yes, all meals are included. Yea, you can eat all meals at the buffet. We have a buffet tour for this resort on our channel 👍🏻

Yes you can, however Aquamarine and Ambar are adults only so no kids are allowed there.

We haven’t been to any other resorts besides the Bahia’s and the Hard Rock in Punta Cana - but out of those, we would recommend the Bahia Principe Fantasia, the Hard Rock Hotel and Bahia Principe Esmeralda 👍🏻

The dress code isn’t very formal at the a la cartes anymore…nice shorts and tshirt works just fine. The Indian was really good and flavourful. We didn’t get to visit the Greek 🤷🏼♀️

Do I need to arrange pick up and drop off to Airport or Hotel shuttle will be waiting at the Airport?
It depends who you booked through. If you booked a package with flights and transfers, then yes you will have a bus waiting for you - otherwise you have to book your own transportation. There is no resort shuttle.

The loud obnoxious music at the pool starts at 8am and can easily wake you up since the rooms are right next to it.

Yes, you can except for Fantasia. You can only eat at your own buffet, but I believe you can book any ala carte in the whole complex.

Yes but it was closed when we were there in March, 2022. Not sure when it will reopen 🤷🏼♀️

There was nothing when we went at the beginning of March this year… but it all depends on the tide, so that can change any time 🤷🏼♀️
