Reminds me of the Dumb and Dumber Too movie where the parents couldn't figure out why their son ate so much peanut butter. It was hilarious what he was actually doing with it.
I've been using this method for a while. I like it. What i do is i freeze the PB first. It make cutting the bottom off easier and less mess on my knife.
I've run into a bit of a snag this past season that has made me rethink my position on this. I set up a camera in front on my PB tree hoping to get a deer in camera, but all of my jars were eaten by a possum so...........Idk lol
Works great ,been doing it myself bout 20 years now, they love peanuts to start with ,they'll literally dig peanuts up out of the ground to eat them off the vine ,believe it or not ,a deers tongue is long enough to reach up in the jar and lick it clean to
It works.. I’ve done it before the season starts, it’s illegal in NY . All baiting or food attractants are illegal in NY except doe urine and estrus. But you can hunt near or in a corn field or apple orchard.. I think it should be legal.
I had a big problem with squirrels and raccoons taking all the peanut butter within a day or so. So I decided to put a 6 foot piece of pvc pipe in the ground away from other trees and then mounted the peanut butter jar to it. I would say it helped, but definitely not a perfect solution. My friend did the same thing a few weeks ago, but then also put Vaseline on the pvc. I guess time will tell. Thanks for the video! Keep making them please
That's odd. We've used a few different brands and the name brand has a stronger smell. Maybe try that and if that doesn't work, scratch that idea. haha
This is cool. I live on a heavily wooded 2+ acre lot and have finally been getting deer in my jungle.. ehem, I mean yard. LOL! They come from the back woods alongside a privacy fence and usually stop in view of my kitchen window before walking down my long driveway. The other day I was thrilled to have 3 deer visit and especially thrilled that one was an 8-point buck!👍 I definitely want to try this peanut butter trick. Maybe they'll hang around long enough for me to get my camera. That's the best and only way I'll be shooting any deer! 😀 Thanks for the demo!
I can testify that it DOES indeed work. But it can be kind of costly… The deer and the raccoons will wipe it out in no time! You will be changing jars three times a week!
It attracts deer but isn't very healthy for them. I found that if you cut open the top of a pumpkin and load it up with fresh fruit pieces they crowd around
Maybe out of season so the deer have a good treat but I think I'd do a cleaner brand of peanut butter or nut butter (home made). I wouldn't want to associate it with me being in the area because big meat deer are smarter than a few buttons.
It's a Good idea but there is one mistake better to use a steel cap instead of plastic during the cold months the cap will break off I know this first hand I had 6 of these nailed to the tree and everyone was broken even though they were licked clean they all were laying on the ground.
Wipe Em' Out Outdoors TV louisiana. Any kind of "baiting" is against the law. And yes i know its not baiting. Its just attracting the deer to the area. But several "officers" of the wildlife and fisheries of this state look for anything and everything they can to screw you over and confiscate/steal your stuff.
in WI you cant put bait in anything containing plastic, metal, glass, etc. You can't even make a wooden box with screws or nails for feeding deer. Doesn't matter anyway, so many bear in WI, the whole jar would be gone by the next day.
Yes I've done it all it attracts is raccoons I had several pics deer just walk right by it pay it no attention. I'm sure they would eat it but I dont think they know what it is.
i have a jar of peanut butter in the woods been there for 30 days deer walk right past it so im not a believer in this method trail cam shows deer walking past it not even paying any attention to it so while it might work great in some places and others not so much
I'm gonna have to try this in the morning you also said you use corn what is the difference in putting a pile of corn is illegal but a food plot isn't bait is bait anyway you look at it
Wipe Em' Out Outdoors TV I always get me about 4 5 gallon buckets and fill them with acorns and when food gets scares I will put them out and I've had some good results from it
We don't use any bait either for the most part. A couple of our staff members do. I personally don't because I think it's more natural for the deer. If they're coming in without bait, they'll continue to do so. Just my opinion but this is a quick way to attract them.
Wipe Em' Out Outdoors TV , A lot of my freinds are using corn, but this peanut butter idea I will tell them about and see if it works, I'm sure they will try it, thanks for the tip.
I live in North Mississippi and it's recently become illegal in certain parts up here to bait deer with corn because if a recent rise of CWD cases. If anybody knows, could you tell me if this would be illegal too? I don't plan on baiting deer to shoot but only to see what deer (maily bucks) are on my property. Thanks
They have similar diets, and some studies have actually been done that show deer are more prone to visiting an area where raccoons are. It's a little weird lol
What if you just want to do it for recreational reasons. Is it then okay? I don’t hunt but I like animals and I like to get photos of them. I’m in Minnesota currently. I know certain counties have a ban due to CWD. And if it’s okay is it allowed all year as long as I’m not hunting or doing it on land that’s hunted? There was a homeless man in traverse city named ‘the deer slayer!’ He likes peanut butter too. However, he did not put it on on a tree . Oh, and the deer was in the zoo!!!! Lmfao . True story
Heather Hales Jeeez. Did you put steroids in the peanut butter? Lol jk that’s crazy though. But they do love it, so do deer. It’s a first come first serve kinda thing lol
Ok, help me understand this...attract them fast...like how fast? You put the jar on a tree and wait 30 yds away with a rifle for..a hour? Or you return the next day or what? Thanx.
I tried that, put a trail cam on it, did it for a month, attached racoons really well but I never got one pic of a deer even smelling of it, lol doesn't work
Are you doing this to kill the deer ? I hope NOT !!!! As these creatures are beautiful and sensitive and playful ! Not sure about leaving plastic and. Ailing it in the tree !
This method is used to attract deer for any reason. Whether it’s for food, to trap and relocate, or just to feed deer in a recreational area. As far as the plastic goes, I said in the video to not leave it and to clean your trash. The nails/screws that are used to Mount the lid can be removed but it does not hurt the tree.
Bob Warren The deer smell it, they are attracted to it, they come in. And no, hunting is when you go out with a weapon trying to find an animal to kill.
Bob Warren * I usually put some whole corn out in my pasture, park the truck on the overlooking hill, and when they come to eat the corn, I turn the headlights on and shoot. JUST KIDDING !
George Ramsey That's awesome. That's what our main goal is for our show. We hunt for food. It's fun, we make memories, but we put good use to the animal. Bait or no bait
wow after reading all of these commits the woods are full of dummies, not one person said hay why not tie it to a limb up off from the tree so all these other critters can't get to it a deer can stand on its back legs 6 ft off the ground.o I forgot the square a pie pan with a hole in the center not on both sides man nobody thinks outside the box. that's all I got to say about that.
Honestly squirrels..raccoons... birds... deer.. and I’m sure there’s several other animals I’m leaving out . Would find a way to get to it.. they are very very trickie little rascals and smart.
in a survival situation nobody would think it would be practical to use a whole jar of peanut butter to try to bring a deer in and in any other situation that's called batting and in most areas it's illegal so I'll have to give this a thumbs down why didn't you just make a video somebody dumping a pickup truck load of apples in the middle of the forest lol
Paul Campbell Well, this isn't a survival video. And yes, this is baiting. It attracts deer so if it's legal where you live, try it. If it's illegal, move on lol
George Ramsey Never had any issues with bobcats or cougars. Have had some bear but the deer doesn't really seem to care lol. We mainly use corn more than anything else
It'll attract my 17 year old son too. I swear he eats a large jar every other day!

Been doing this for years and deer love it. Same way too drill screw through lid attach and cut and file outside.
Awesome!
Where I live it attracts the bears!
Don’t want the deer to cut there tongue before u kill them!! Lmao! Great idea and video bro!! 👍

This works great! As long as the deer find it before anything else.
Great idea. I've got raccoons on my deer camera prying it off of the tree.
Damn thieves.

Thanks I have a lot of deer in my town so this wus helpful
It attracts deer but isn't very healthy for them. I found that if you cut open the top of a pumpkin and load it up with fresh fruit pieces they crowd around
If the deer walk right past it try to put some sense spray around it so they won’t smell where you touched it
Game camera showing deer eating would be great
Yeah.. I tried this. This should be called “how to attract raccoon fast@
Unfortunately, they like it too...
Lol! That was the first thought I had before even watching the video. They’ll wipe it out before a deer even has a chance to find it.
Gray foxes love it, they'll eat here before they go after meat I set out for them.
Tried this years ago without any luck. It was like Rocky's sweatshirt, it drew flies.
We are in the process of creating a video now showing our results. It may vary by location. The deer coming into our hunting spots are loving it.
Crying 😭 😭😭😭😭💀

Gerber Gator, great knife. I was super sad when I lost mine.

Raccoons eat my peanut butter.
Think you meant Bear instead of deer.....Yep this is sure to attract every black bear in a 5 mile radius....lol
TurdFerguson Outdoors lol It really depends on the location. We have seen some bear come in to it but deer love it too.
Some people might use this for other reasons.
😂😂😂😂🤮
Like the Berber knife
My black bears seem to like it to lol
Have you seen Carla?
Bears will not allow this were I live. They would take it down the first night. I wish I could put some out.
Been there done that... unfortunately!
So many animals like peanut butter.
I put carrots with peanut butter on them
I use apples too the deer like apples too
Deer LOVEEE apples! We also put apples out in a few areas too, especially in the winter!
Something tells me bears will run right through this
I put this up in East Texas and it doesn't work have trail cam pics of deer all around it and they are just not interested in it but the crows love it
Unfortunately it doesn't work in some areas, oddly enough.
Great idea,,, but illegal in my state.
matthew mehrtens what state do you live in?

Organic PB ? without sugar!
Will attract Bears like crazy
That is very possible! Just be cautious!
Wrap the jar with aluminum flashing strips and hook a battery to it. The squirrels and raccoons will soon loose their taste for P-nut butter.
Great video
Our deer won’t touch it but the crows feast
Well... I guess they gotta eat too right? lol
You got a video of this actually working?
Peanut butter brings bear to my area. So one night it's gone.
I like to feed deer as the ones near me are kinda under fed and ive bonded with alot
That will bring boogers in as well.
We had some luck with it for younger deer but what we have seen most is the raccoons tears it up and leaves the corn alone
Yes I've done it all it attracts is raccoons I had several pics deer just walk right by it pay it no attention. I'm sure they would eat it but I dont think they know what it is.
They will eat it if they find it before the raccoons do.
Maybe try it some in the off season too. It may take a few jars to test it out but maybe eventually they'll get around to it.
Peanut butter works until a bear finds it.
i have a jar of peanut butter in the woods been there for 30 days deer walk right past it so im not a believer in this method trail cam shows deer walking past it not even paying any attention to it so while it might work great in some places and others not so much

Ask a Georgia peanut farmer if deer like peanuts. That why hunters love hunting near their fields.
I use Cheetos puffs,in a plastic full of holes container,and.....in less than 6 hours I'm already back with a buck in the truck!🤷
I'm gonna have to try this in the morning you also said you use corn what is the difference in putting a pile of corn is illegal but a food plot isn't bait is bait anyway you look at it

Bee Bob That sucks. We usually put ours 4-5 feet off the ground.

Yeah definitely check the laws before doing any type of baiting or attractants. It all depends on locations.
Squirrels chewed back the plastic on mine!
lol must've been really hungry
Robert Arsenault you can put molasses or sap on top of the jar and squirrels hate the sticky surface
Not for hunting, I just have a little friend in my back yard and she ran away
